Iron Maiden 1975-2015

A hollow universe in space
I just realised that 2015 will mark the official 40th anniversary of the band!

Although their first album was released in 1980, Iron Maiden was, officially, founded in 1975.

Do you think they have something in store for us? Will it be celebrated in any way? What do you see/wish/think will happen?

Share your thoughts!

The actual anniversary is Christmas day, 1975 I believe so maybe this Christmas there will be something cool. I miss the Christmas themed shirts they had for a long time

An official Somewhere On Tour live show, from the tapes of some demented Japanese recording engineer, who became a hermit in 1987. Everyone involved with Maiden was not able to locate the guy since the end of that tour. Until this year, because Adrian Smith himself stumbled upon the hermit's house, when he wanted to drink tea during a break from fishing ayu. The hermit grinned when he recognized H's voice, ran to a cupboard, and handed him the tapes.
"Good, soundboard quality! Nice Christmas present!"

Adrian answered ...

.... and went back to Europe and wrote the best songs from his career. He recorded them himself, and Steve was so impressed that he decided to use all the material, unedited, for the next Maiden album. The studio in Paris was booked to try out a rare French drum sound. For weeks Nicko had beaten every inch of copper and skin that he could find, but then the band went back to the demo. "This is it! It is complete! No one needs to add a thing!"

So, not only will we finally hear soundboard Somewhere On Tour material, we also will have the most special studio album ever.

You're such an Adrian fanboy! :p

Lol i'm being serious. I think it's really cool that the band will be celebrating their 40th anniversary while having a new album at the same time.

At the same time, i really don't know if they'll do anything special for the occasion or not.

If they do, i would really love to see some box set with every studio album (including the new one) with some cool extras like extended essays about every album and it's conception, posters, some exclusive merchandise, etc.

I think as same as in 1996 they release somethin' in style of "Best Of The Beast 2" in 2016 as the anthology of band's best of collection for 40th anniversary.

If Maiden could produce something along the lines of Rush when they celebrate a moment (eg. Rush R30, thenI will be more than ecstatic :)

Best of the Beast contained some special "rarities", not sure if they'll release (or have ready) any relatively rare stuff. Sounds more like something that would be done when the end comes.

^ they said they have some Somewhere in Time live tracks but not all of them. I wonder if they would ever release them

I do. Rod Smallwood mentioned it in an interview during the Part 3 of the Iron Maiden history DVDs. he said something like "we have bits of the tour but not a full record"

I believe it is part 3, maybe 2, I don't remember and will look this evening

I remember that too. I'm going to be a total conspiracy nut here though and say that they do have a full SIT show somewhere and are just waiting for Maiden to retire to milk that cow. :D

If I'd made up the menu it would be a set three course meal...

Entree - The Clamsman Chowder
Main - Catch of the day from the Sea of Madness
Dessert - Infinite Ice Creams
