The statement was made: "Trivium were god awful when they supported Maiden". Now, it may be that the poster (Nicolefury) simply doesn't like Trivium. But it's worth noting that some bands are good on record and bad live, or vice versa ... and even good live bands can have off nights. For example, I don't like Mastodon's records, but they were good live. On the other hand, while I love Dokken's records, they were one of the worst live bands I've ever seen - they actually got booed off the stage. (In their defense, they were following Metallica on Metallica's last non-headlining tour, and that's tough for anyone.)

In Dortmund, Bruce hints for 2007 (check my last post in Dortmund topic), but in Helsinki (14 Nov) he says literally that it won't be next summer but the summer after that, 2008.

"....we're gonna be playing , well, you remember an album called Live After Death and Powerslave?
So we thought if we come back and if we play the whole powerslave shit, Live After Death, would you come and drink a beer with us afterwards??"

------
Remember: the Dortmund gig was AFTER Helsinki. It might be that Maiden changed their plans (instead of 2008 it will be 2007) while doing their European leg of this tour.

Or Bruce had a Freudian slip

IRON MAIDEN To Play U.K.'s Donington Park In June? - Dec. 20, 2006

According to Last.fm, IRON MAIDEN has booked the U.K.'s Donington Park for June 6, 2007 — two days before the Download festival kicks off. This would, of course, fit with the rumors lately about MAIDEN going on a festival tour next summer, and the fact that MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson has been announcing from the stage at recent European gigs that the band will embark on a 2007 summer tour.

Donington Park has a great pedigree of holding rock concerts and festivals, having played host to the Monsters of Rock concerts from the early '80s to mid-'90s, when groups such as AC/DC, METALLICA and IRON MAIDEN — who have each headlined three times — performed there. More recently, it has played host to STEREOPHONICS' A Day At The Races event in 2001, Ozzfest in 2002 and Download festival in 2003, headlined by IRON MAIDEN and AUDIOSLAVE, who were late replacements for LIMP BIZKIT, who pulled out of the festival. Download was held again in 2004, when METALLICA returned to Donington, accompanied by a star-studded lineup including SLIPKNOT, KORN, LINKIN PARK, SLAYER and a number of other high-profile rock bands.

The 2005 Download festival was held in June, featuring BLACK SABBATH as well as SYSTEM OF A DOWN, FEEDER and VELVET REVOLVER. In 2006, TOOL, METALLICA and GUNS N' ROSES headlined the event.

IRON MAIDEN Confirmed For United Arab Emirates' DESERT ROCK Festival - Dec. 20, 2006

IRON MAIDEN has been confirmed as the first headliner of the Desert Rock 2007 festival, set to take place March 9-10, 2007 at the Dubai Country Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Also newly added to the bill is LAUREN HARRIS, daughter of IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris. The festival billing is shaping up as follows:

March 9, 2007:

IRON MAIDEN
THE PRODIGY
STONE SOUR
MASTODON
IN FLAMES
CHILDREN OF BODOM
LAUREN HARRIS
JUNKYARD GROOVE

In Dublin the other night, Bruce once again said that they would be playing in a "muddy field in England" and if we are lucky, there is a chance he would play "in a muddy field in Ireland".  He said that if there was a demand for it, Maiden would play in what sounds like a festival which would probably be Slane I think.  I'm not getting excited however, it probably won't happen.

You don't need rocket science to understand that Bruce was talking of the next "History" tour. But Bruce’s declarations are not always very accurate, at least in terms of dates........ :innocent:

Yeh, it's the new tour to accompany the new DVD whenever it comes out....

I think it might be worth mentioning in this context that there has been intense speculation and reports regarding concerts in South America in 2007, and Nicko has hinted at the possibility of an extended A Matter of Life and Death tour next year, so it might be that the Dubai/Donington deal is in fact part of the current tour.

I don't know why you felt the need to spoiler that, exactly...spoiling a phrase that Bruce imay use in Earl's Court is hardly devastating, is it?

Anyway, Bruce said at the start that the band 'couldn't find a muddy field in Ireland', and that 'we were all invited to come over to the muddy field in England'.  I think that the last part was more wishful thinking than anything.  A Slane date would be cool, but I don't think it's very likely-I think the 2007 dates are going to be a couple of isolated dates, rather than a fully-fledged tour.  And let's face it, if it's not fully-fledged, Maiden are hardly going to paying a visit to Ireland...there's not the population for it (esp. if the Donington is going to service the whole of Great Britain).  The Point was the last show to sell out, and it had the second smallest capacity.  Anyway, we can dream, I guess... :innocent:

I think that in 2007 the amolad tour will continue...but they will not play the full album...Rod says that!...just some songs...The ``history pt 2´´ tour comes after this...As Bruce says...in 2008...

The only thing that I remember "Rod saying" on the official website is that in Dubai Maiden will play some new songs and some classics.  Do you have a link, Al McBrain, stating that this "only some new songs" theory will be true?

Hi Genghis Khan...thats It dude!...What did I said!?...``Rod says that...they will play just some new songs´´...and what did you said!?...The same thing...I read this in the oficial website too...the same thing dude!...

I was referring to Dubai only and... oh, never mind.

From Ironmaiden.com:

Iron Maiden have confirmed that they will be playing a headline show in Athens on Sunday March 11th 2007 as part of a short run of dates in mid March which include Dubai Desert Rock Festival and two more shows soon to be announced on ironmaiden.com.

The venue is the 10,000 capacity Faliro Pavilion Indoor Arena in Athens and tickets for the show will be going on sale on Tuesday 16th January.

Says Bruce Dickinson 'Greece has always given us such great support and we understand that 'A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH' was the number one album for 4 weeks and we will of course be playing some songs from that album . We were sadly unable to arrange a date in the first part of the tour so we are all very pleased to be now able to play in Athens and we expect to bring with us the full staging we have been using so far on this tour . The Greek audiences are amongst the craziest anywhere and we look forward very much to playing the show. And so of course does Eddie'

I'm betting my arse that the two other shows will be at Donington and somewhere in Germany. It's also interesting that these shows will have a different setlist than the previous one.

Well the headliner for Donnington for previous few years has also headlined "Download Ireland" which is basically Donnington, with less acts (but including the headliner) and taking place in one afternoon. Although I highly doubt that Maiden would come here a second time in less than a year, I certainly hope that it is the case.
