In Paris, Bruce said Maiden would visit the city again in 2008, with an "ancient Egyptian stage set" and playing older songs.

In Dortmund, Bruce said they would play an open air gig in Germany in Summer 2007 playing old stuff.

Just throwing this in for any wild speculation. :P

Summer 2007 may be a bit close to this tour, I'm thinking.  I also don't see why you need spoiler tags.  Yes, the 'Ancient Egyptian theme' indicates a Powerslave-themed set (in part), but no real details have been anounced.  Perhaps they won't play RotAM, but Flash of the Blade et al. :P

Bruce said in Dortmund that the band was so impressed by AMOLAD hitting #1 in Germany that they want to return in 2007 and play some old songs.

You don't need rocket science to understand that Bruce was talking of the next "History" tour. But Bruce’s declarations are not always very accurate, at least in terms of dates........ :innocent:

2000? Man of Sorrows was initially written for that movie... ;)

To add fuel to the fire, @ Den Bosch Bruce first said something like '...we'll return in the summer of 2008, with a bit of Egypt, and 80s metal, etc....'. No surprise, of course, we ALL knew that 'The History Of...' would be an ongoing project, and that we are now at Powerslave, so hopefully (and quite expectedly so), they'll then stick with Powerslave, SIT and SSOASS. This was totally as expected.

However, at the end, he said (one time at least, but maybe even twice): "see you NEXT summer", and/or something like "we'll return next year" (if someone wants to know the exact words, I can check that, of course).

Indeed this started speculation, and Paule (who went to a.o. the Dortmund show too, and also mentioned the 'summer of 2007' announcement) and I were speculating a bit about this too. It could be something like happened with the "Give me Ed...." and "DOD" tours, relatively quickly following one another, where Maiden perhaps can't go a whole year without touring, and will give the fans a treat to songs from ALL albums. Now.... Wouldn't THAT be cool?!? :D

We'll see, but I'd love to see them play e.g. old time classics, and/or songs they've never (or hardly ever) played, like Only The Good Die Young. Also: really the boys should bring Phantom Of The Opera back as an integral part of their show again, IMO! ;)

Cheerz,
Olafo

PS: Make very sure to keep a close eye on all festival announcements, and check also well for names like 'Charlotte and the Harlots', as they might yet only play a few gigs under alias, as they do at times at 'warm up gigs' right before kicking off a major tour...:P

In Sweden, Bruce also said that they will be back on 2008 with ancient egypt stage and 80´s material.... apparently they would be in the stadiums in Gothenburg and Stockholm...

he did not say anything about 2007...

but i guess they are planning to do a short festival tour next year... i guess that something like Gime Ed till I am dead... with all-time material and no focus on any album...

Something interesting is thinking that in 2008, they actually are planning to play songs of P, SIT and SSOASS (and maybe NPFTD)... so do you think they would not play songs from previous albums?

....so some conclusions here, are : they'll play in Germany they are not gonna play in France, as of 2007 and they will use Egyptian stage in 2008....the latest is not even a new, the second is a sad (but true) one, and the first a very good one : Germany is not so far after all !!!

...and yes, in Bercy Bruce promised for 2008 not 07

I believe him because of his true -as it turned out- promise in Parc Des Princes

Quite possibly so...

Also keep your eyes open for BeNeLux shows, as in the summer there are heaps of festivals over here, with some major ones in the south of The Netherlands and Belgium. Chances are good that if they'll play a German festival (Rock Am Ring?) that they may also make an appearance at one of the Dutch and/or Belgian ones!!! :)

Cheerz,
MM

I think it's 100% sure that there will be a tour, presenting a setlist consisting of songs of the 1984 till ...? albums. The World Slavery Tour stage set-up will be used for this tour.

However,it seems that it's not 100% sure when this will happen.

2007 or 2008? This has to do with Bruce who mixes up the years constantly.

Probably it will be 2008 and a new studio album in 2009. We'll see! :)

He pretty much hinted at being at Donington, possibly for Download. He said nothing was confirmed, but I'm pretty excited if they are going to do it.

Id rather it was a different thing. A 2 day festival at Donnington

1st day

AC/DC
Whitesnake
Motley Crue
Bullet for my vallentine

2nd day

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
?????????
Trivium

That would be cool IMO

Trivium? Are you serious? They were god awful when they supported Maiden on Tuesday. Nothing more than a Metallica rip off band.

I really can't stand it when people ask others if they are serious when they are talking about their own personal taste. theprowler likes Trivium, so what? It's not like he pushes that down your throat and expects you to like them as well. Grow a brain and learn to accept the fact that everybody has their own individual taste.

And this is coming from someone who doesn't like Trivium himself.

At the Glasgow SECC gig on Friday night Bruce mentioned something along the lines of the guys had thought about doing nothing at all in 2007 ,but he than went on to mention turning some field into a muddy mess(sounds like some festival dates to me) and spoke about playing some older material during this time so read into that what you can.
