Getting back to the IMBB and its innevitable closure, I have serious doubts that the site will be able to handle the boosted ratings. Obviously this depends on how many people migrate here, but should we expect a strain on the server? I used to post on the IMBB, not too often though, it does have quite a few childish members. On the other hand, many of the members were invloved in meaningful discussions. When all is said and done I believe this board will have a number of new members that are up to your posting standard.

I dont see what the IMBB people are complaining about, this has always been a better forum, just join this one.

I respect your opinion, and to a certain extent I agree with it. Coming from the IMBB, I know that it did (I suppose it still DOES, as it's not the 7th just yet) have several members who were, at times, immature. But please do not undermine the entire IMBB community. Yes, there were some people there who were childish and who posted only to insult certain bands and/or members, but there were also a lot of well-meaning metal fans on there. (Some of whom will likely find their way here...)

Regardless, I for one appreciate the fact that you all are giving us a new outlet despite the obvious differences between the two forums. Cheers to you for that! ::

Spot on. As I said in my announcement all members of that forum are welcome here until they step out of line. Of course theyll be given chance to redeem themselves like everyone else and it shouldn't be treated as an invasion [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/smile.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"smile.gif\" /]

In regards to the question about the server load - I have no idea! It depends on how many people are online at once. The forum is a good solid piece of software and the server is now a dedicated server which can handle those kinds of loads so all SHOULD be fine. Time will tell

Good idea Duke, but it's been done. In the IMBB's Maiden Talk forum, someone started a thread called "MaidenFans BB" which suggested that they all migrate here. This suggestion was immediately shot down by other people saying they should all go to their new alternate forum.

Of course, someone could try and repeat the suggestion. But I doubt the response would be any different.

I have started a Link list thread on the official BB! The link to Maiden World is there and also the link to the new unofficial BB. I try to help all those that don´t know where to go, when the official BB is closing. And I also want to show that there are alot of other great communities, some even better than the offical BB.

If you know some other places as mentioned there, perhaps you can post them there.

Mate, you are of course completely right.
When I say "Krauts are stupid," I never mean all Krauts. That would be hypocritical of me for two reasons; Many of my best friends and people who mean a lot to me are German, and I'm even a Kraut myself (somehow)! When I say "Americans like hamburgers," that is just as wrong, because even if hamburgers are popular, there are probably millions of Americans who hate them. The thing is, Germans publically advertise themselves as stupid and Americans publically advertise themselves as hamburger-lovers. As I said, I've met many Germans who are the exact opposite of stupid, and I've met several Americans who don't like hamburgers.

A universal allegory. I'm so proud of myself.
