Well, it's been revealed that the IMBB is closing. You are pretty much all aware of that, but come March 7th, we're going to have a deluge of new members. A lot of the people here (myself included) have little to no respect for members of the IMBB and its childish ways. But we are going to get quite a few new people who aren't quite up to our posting standard.

So this is just a quick message to ask you all to not be too cruel to new people over the next week or so. If you see a post that is not up to snuff, please simply report it so the Mod Squad can deal with it. Also, I find it as funny as the rest of you, but we don't need to parody l33t sp34k over the next week or so, just till the new posters find their niche...or move along.

Like SMX said in the other thread...let's all be on our best behaviour and be an example, not a deterrent.

I agree. we can be so close minded but we need to remember that we were all n00bs once. Also, there are some intelligent posters from the IMBB that just get drowned out by the masses. We need to just act as normal and let the mods do their job [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/wink.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\";)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"wink.gif\" /] Well said LC before a frenzy whips up and we make a mountain out of a molehill.

I have to be very careful about what I say on here because of Mav. [img src=\"style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/happy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"^_^\" border=\"0\" alt=\"happy.gif\" /] Unlike the IMBB.
 
Its a shock to see the BB closing....and I'm not really into paying $15.00 a year...especially since Lou STILL hasnt got her Christmas card T-Shirt/Prize yet....and its March !

Anyway.....be prepared for the onslaught of the poopy-heads.

Hell, I say the more we have here the merrier!
Our Mods are usually pretty much on the ball, so we don't have much to fear from a large horde of newbies. Those who don't post intelligently will be weeded out in a Darwinian struggle for surrvival. Those that remain will only add to the great atmosphere we currently have.

As long as they conform to the basic rules of the community we've built over the years here, there's nothing but good that can come from this.


PS - with such a large cohort of new members expected, perhaps the selection of a new moderator (or even a few new ones) should be expediated.
 
Thanks for the warning but it's you guys (the mods) not us (the petty commoners) that are going to be working your butts off. All we gotta do is "play nice", easy enough.
 
It remains to be seen how many new members we'll get here. Some members of the IMBB have already established a new forum elsewhere, and early rumors suggest most of the IMBB will go there.
 
Would it be inprudent of us totake the first step? Perhaps we should actively remind these soon-to-be homeless fans of Maiden of the existance of Maidenfan.
 
Good idea Duke, but it's been done. In the IMBB's Maiden Talk forum, someone started a thread called "MaidenFans BB" which suggested that they all migrate here. This suggestion was immediately shot down by other people saying they should all go to their new alternate forum.

Of course, someone could try and repeat the suggestion. But I doubt the response would be any different.

Maybe we are being over cautious. We are whipping up a frenzy are as of yet, only a couple of people have joined and started posting in the Trade Forum. Only time will tell the effect of the dissident IMBBers but I don't think we'll be that badly affected alotgether. There is someone on the Trivium board called Tyrannasaurus Matt who thinks he is Maiden's biggest ever fan and also posts on the BB. If he joins here.......*gulps*....we'll be condemned to constant flirting with female members and he'll probably even start a thread for posting your own picture.... ::
 
Then he should be attentive when registering, as everybody can put a picture in their profile. And some even have!
