If no covid?

What were Maiden' plans if Covid never happened. Im guessing LOTB tour through 2020 maybe early 2021. Then release Senjutsu early 21 tour later 21 and 22. Then a SIT retro tour in 23with more older songs than we have on TFP tour due to the Senjutsu tour 21/22.

So, understand, don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years. Face up, make your stand. Realize you're living in the golden years.

But in all seriousness, I expect LOTB3 would have included a Senjutsu song (probably The Writing on the Wall), and then would have moved into the Senjutsu release cycle, followed by 2 years of a Senjutsu tour, then a retrospective tour (possibly SIT themed, but possibly not), then back into the album cycle.

Senjutsu was apparently going to be released immediately after LOTB 2020, with a tour to follow quite early in 2021.

I think this current tour is a mix of what they had planned for 2021, and what they had planned after the Senjutsu album tour.

My thoughts exactly.

I think the plan was Senjutsu tour in 2021. With Covid, they decided to play the front end of the album as part of LOTB. Afterwards they decided to go SIT heavy and call it Future Past, as they didn't want to repeat themselves.

If there was no Covid, there would be a Senjutsu tour and I think they would play 6 or 7 Senjutsu songs. Alexander The Great and SIASL would be on the setlist too. Alex was a promise from Steve to Nicko and SIASL was Bruce, Adrian and Nicko's wish. But with Covid and all, they threw in HCW and CSIT (I think the other 3 SIT songs would be performed on Senjutsu tour anyway) and re-branded the tour.

I really think no COVID = no Somewhere in Time themed tour, and possibly no Alexander the Great. Future Past to me seems like fan service and a way of throwing a bone to hardcore fans who wanted a new album tour instead of LOTB 2022. It's a way to solve the problem of touring an album that has been out for almost two years (ancient history in today's music time) while also bringing in fans who aren't as interested in the new material. They were going around teasing the idea of playing the entire Senjutsu album for so long that the Somewhere in Time side of things must have been factored in later. I think it makes sense that Stranger in a Strange Land would come back eventually, maybe even on a Senjutsu themed tour, but I can't imagine them devoting more than one or two song slots to Somewhere in Time on a "normal" album tour. Definitely not playing Alexander the Great unless there's some greater theming around it, as was the case this year. Right now it's occupying the centerpiece epic slot, whereas on a normal album tour that spot would go to something like Hell on Earth.

The interesting thing is that if things had gone according to plan, we would be in year one of whatever Maiden's next nostalgia tour would be. There's obviously a lot of talk about what the last tour will be and maybe a level of assuming that the next greatest hits tour will be that. Well, the intended timeline would mark 2023/2024 as the year of "the final tour." I wonder how long they intend on going, particularly Nicko. Knowing how they typically operate they probably already have a plan for 2025.

"I think we are going to do it on Senjutsu tour" - Nicko McBrain during 2022 Rock And Roll Ribs party before LOTB 2022. That's what makes me think it was planned to be performed before deciding on the tour being The Future Past Tour.

I doubt it as Senjutsu tour was decided to become The Future Past during LOTB 2022/during LOTB 2022 rehearsals.
