Iced Earth

They are currently in the process of building their own studio... That being said I've been relistening to last two albums and while I like the songs, production is definitely lacking. So this will be a good thing because they'll be able to take their time with recording and won't have to rush the recordings to cut down on the costs of renting a studio.
Do you mean Iced Earth or Charred Walls is building a studio?

Dear friends,
Do these working song titles for the next Iced Earth album stir excitement within you? They do us!

Anybody else noticed that the Sons of Liberty website is dead? I guess They shut it down.

Yes :D Clear The Way might be Gettysburg-ish, based on the topic :)[/QUOTE]

Excellent news. I haven't seen Iced Earth for a few years. I expect they'll be touring next year.

Their studio is called "Independence Hall", which is very Jon Schaffer. <_<::)

Very Sons of Liberty as well. And these titles can be interpreted like that as well. With Jon Schaffer putting all his lyrical philosphies in Iced Earth, no one needs to lose a night's sleep over Sons of Liberty, I guess?

New Megadeth album had their most political lyrics ever yet people mostly liked it, so don't think it'll matter if the music is good. And Iced Earth is in way better form than Megadeth IMO, both in studio and live.

Overly political lyrics are the least of IE's problems IMO. But I do think they would do better with more lyrics with biblical/mythological themes.

I prefer recent Megadeth to recent IE without question, but Megadeth is in a similar rut when it comes to doing the same thing every time they make an album.

I would rather see Iced Earth in concert though.

First thing I noticed, too. Always with the subtlety, that guy.

That's my guess. He started writing both albums and then just decided to smash them together under the IE banner. Which, despite the fact that we might get 5-6 politically-obsessed tracks, at least Schaffer won't be spreading his lack of riffs too thin.

Certainly live, without a doubt. I'd argue that for the most part they both make uninteresting albums now, but IE's Dystopia was far better than Megadeth's Dystopia (or their last few records in general). Stu is a worthy vocalist for the band, so I'm hoping that they knock this album out of the park.

Like the myth of Something Wicked, yeah?
I didn't like the Something Wicket albums, but I would honestly take that over another Spirit Of the Times or whatever. Schaffer just doesn't have anything interesting to say about those subjects, at least the idea for Something Wicked is kind of creative.

Oh yes, the actual Something Wicked trilogy is awesome.

I think there's a strong single album somewhere in FA and Crucible. Take the first half or so of FA, the two good songs from Crucible, and get rid of those interludes.
