Although quite a few good songs are in the top ten, the lack of Coming Curse is an epic farce.

This. Although there are 2 good things that have come out of this. Stygian getting #1 again, and When the Night Falls finally making it to the top 10 for the first time. But when things like Angel's Holocaust, Desert Rain (the biggest farce here), Come What May, Prophecy were voted out too early and then things like Burning Times, Birth of the Wicked and The Hunter making the top 10, you know that the top 10 is much weaker overall than previous years.

With the exception of Hunter and Burning Times, I agree. Gettysburg was listed as three separate songs, so it never had a prayer. Not that I think it should, but still.

I see Gettysburg as a trilogy, and if it were listed as such, not being in the top 10 would be a crime against mankind.
Burning Times is a solid song, but its epicness lacks. Same with The Hunter, although it's definitely better than Burning. In short, Iced Earth has far too many epics for either of these two to be in the top 10.

The Gettysburg trilogy is among my favourite all-time songs and easily my favourite Iced Earth song.
I think the fact it was chopped up hurt it, but I am surprised it doesn't get more respect on this forum — it's so Maiden.

Not every best song needs to be an epic. As much as I prefer Iced Earth's epic songs, it gets real boring after awhile if you don't have some shorter, powerful tracks. Burning Times, IMO, is still the best Iced Earth live opener of all time. And The Hunter is just pure power, even though it's pretty mid-tempo.
Absolutely. Considering Birth of the Wicked made it, I can't believe Dracula is nowhere to be seen.
I really like Gettysburg as a whole, but the final part is a bit of a let down. The Devil to Pay and Hold at All Costs are brilliant. High Water Mark is a bit boring compared to the other two. The trilogy would have been better as one song with some solid transitions.

If you eliminate 6 & 9, you actually still have a pretty good representation of Iced Earth's sound. In my opinion, they have better tunes than some of these, but if you can't get into IE after hearing those 8 songs, you probably won't like 'em.
