I reported this trolling to the Moderators just for the record. All mods are posting in this thread anyway so it's pointless, but I felt like doing something.

So you value pacifism?
But at the same time you suggest that ensuring pacifism with the help of a war attack is ok? [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/blink.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'blink.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Yes. If a anticipated attack is required to mantain the status quo, then why not? If you know that a country is going to attack you, you aare absolutely certain of this, why not attack first?

But in that case we cannot speak of pacifism, can we?

It is bad publicity. What you should do instead is build up your defences and hope the attack isn't too bad. If you can't withstand an attack, chances are that you would have failed with your pre-emptive strike too.
This way, you maintain a white vest and more countries are likely to support you.

How about if you know the other country has nukes and it's going to use them? In that case, the only way to prevent the catastrophe is a preamptive strike ( I'm not saying you should nuke him first)

If you had undeniable proof that they are planning to use nuclear weapons, then it would be acceptable. So far, no country has been foolish enough to seriously consider using them though (not sure about North Korea though).

- About patriotism: while I understand that some might be critisizing the national identity, I'm still at loss to find a suitable replacement ? Mondialism, universalism ? What are they core values ? Are they really being followed by anyone ?

Moreover, I'm not sure that the teaching of national identity has really had that much impact in recent years in industrialized countries. The culture of criticism has been taking on (and wisely so) and the teachers are mostly liberal and won't teach the official history blindlessly (but might inculcate contrary sheepy ideas).

With patriotism being attacked on so many fronts (international, subnational), a unique teaching of history is not possible anymore on a general level.

- About nuclear bombs: the whole question is how can any country be 100% sure that a country will attack it with nukes ? Only when the missiles are in the air is this becoming a certainty. And it is why the balance of terror has been holding the nuclear powers until now.

Cheers

Official press statement by Perun (9.8.2005)

The whole world around me is going insane. While I attempt to defend my mental health, it seems to be a battle I can not win. I feel random attacks of madness frequently. It is only a matter of time before I have become a complete lunatic. Let's enjoy the precious time we have before it is gone.

I'M THE LIZARD KING! I CAN DO ANYTHING!
