- About patriotism: while I understand that some might be critisizing the national identity, I'm still at loss to find a suitable replacement ? Mondialism, universalism ? What are they core values ? Are they really being followed by anyone ?
Moreover, I'm not sure that the teaching of national identity has really had that much impact in recent years in industrialized countries. The culture of criticism has been taking on (and wisely so) and the teachers are mostly liberal and won't teach the official history blindlessly (but might inculcate contrary sheepy ideas).
With patriotism being attacked on so many fronts (international, subnational), a unique teaching of history is not possible anymore on a general level.
- About nuclear bombs: the whole question is how can any country be 100% sure that a country will attack it with nukes ? Only when the missiles are in the air is this becoming a certainty. And it is why the balance of terror has been holding the nuclear powers until now.
Cheers
