History Part 3

Now that we have The Film of The History Of The History Of Iron Maiden, and as there isn't anything concrete to say about any new studio album yet, I was wondering what people would like to see on the History Part 3 DVD when it eventually comes out?

Obviously Maiden England will be the headline show, but I would really like to see something substantial from Somewhere On Tour included too. As I was a spotty fifteen year old in the crowd I would also love to see Donington 88 footage as well, and the cream on the cake would be InterCity Express tour stuff such as the documentary that has been posted elsewhere on this site. This would then leave Part 4 to cover FOTD and the Blaze era...

I'm sure more competent Maiden fans will know of other pro-footage that they'd like to see....

Oh, and the actual History documentary had better be more meaty than the oft-told hoary old stories from Part Two....

Wait, was there a History Part 2?  I know there was a History Part 2 tour....kinda....but I will confess as to being ignorant here.

Really?  Really.  Well then.  Hopefully it's Maiden England.  I expect it would be.

Really. More specifically, History Part 2 was the documentary on the bonus disc.

Anyway, I do have some hope that some footage from the Somewhere In Time tour pops up. Although there is probably nothing in the archives, rumours/stories of TV broadcasts from this time persist, and at least Caught Somewhere In Time has been captured on film- I have seen such footage (albeit only excerpts) myself.

Which is kinda boring, considering Part 1 had an entire double-dvd set, though I guess LAD is good enough....I dunno.

I was a bit disappointed with it, but World Slavery was big enough to justify its own DVD set- after all, we have the Live After Death video, Behind The Iron Curtain and Rock In Rio on that.

I haven't seen a copy.  Anywhere in any record store I've ever been in...I guess I'll have to order it.

I'd like to see the next history DVD perhaps go into more detail on the recording of the albums, a little like the brief part on Death on the Road and basically continue what they've been doing so far, telling stories from the era, documenting each stage of the respective tours, including any and all TV spots and other footage they can find (which reminds me, they should include at least a brief clip of their "performance" of Wasted Years on German TV).
Nicko on the Sooty show would be good too.

Yeah, its pretty cool.  When I got mine, it brought back memories of being 15 again! (ha ha)  I think I found mine in Sam Goody or FYI, don't remember which.  Tho, I think I've seen some in Best Buy.

Here is a ebay link with one... i didn't research the seller, so this isn't a recommendation, just a start.

There IS a show that was TV broadcasted - I have it myself. However, the quality isn't that great as it is ripped from a VHS casset.

Do you know which show it was, Yax?

It says Philadelphia 1987.

Ta muchly Yax!

I know there is supposed to be an '86 pro-shot from Paris, but I have only seen clips from a one-camera version myself that looks like it was shot from the mixing desk. I remember Kerrang! at the time had a centrefold of the stage set with the hands and giant Eddie head and Nicko's riser way up in the air, and I was so excited I could only communicate in cuss words for a while, but then the gig I was due to see got cancelled... I really want to see this show...

Wasn't the Caught Somewhere In Time footage in 12 Wasted Years? I think it was shot in Japan....

And as for Nicko on the Sooty Show, I completely forgot until now about young Dominic Lawson being Maiden's tech on Jim'll Fix It back in '86.... I was desperate to see this, but I was at boarding school at the time and, as I'd been a bad boy, my punishment was to stand to attention in the dormitory for the entire length of the show. Sadistic bloody prefects, ONE DAY I SHALL *shakes fist, trembles upper lip* HAVE MY REVENGE!

Anyway, I'd really like to see that clip in full... I did get to see the Sooty Show in '88 however  :innocent:

Although I would love see the brilliant Maiden England on DVD, I really would appreciate some No Prayer footage as well. I know the cameras where there for the Wembley gig in '90 ("Bring Your Daughter..." was mostly filmed at Wembley) - so that would be a real bonus. :D

But then again, it simply ain't up to me.

Stand to attention in the dormitory for the entire length of the show? But did those sadistic prefects make you hold out your arms as they placed a pillow on them? And then wait until your arms dropped - and then start it all over again?

If not, you got off lightly. :P

Indeed, the No Prayer tours seem to have forgotten by posterity, which is a shame considering how bloody good the shows were.

No, I did get off lightly that time I admit; but my least favourite punishment was "It Pays To Be A Winner" where you had to run 800 metres with a mouthful of coloured water and spit it out into a cup at the end. The winner was released, everyone else had to do it again until there was only one left....

Wise words, if 'Arry ever looked at fan feedback he'd never go near a film editing suite for the rest of his life! I just get the feeling that there is a quite a bit of Maiden stuff out there that we haven't seen, and, because of the historical interest, quality control isn't the same issue as it was in the '80s and '90s
