That, I have to say, is one of my favourite songs ever.
I know, it's so fucking awesome and it works wonders as closure. That song is perfect.

I can't believe I've barely listened to it until today.  :S

Oh you guys should definately check out Fight! Some "Halford" classics are originally theirs, e.g. Into the Pit (fucking love that song).

Heart of a Lion is one of my absolute favorites, just plain favorites, out of everything I own.

I used to dislike Slow Down, but it has grown on me over the summer when I did alot of listening to Live Insurrection.

For All Eternity rules!

But "A Small Deadly Space" is an album which shouldn't be overlooked.

Heart of a Lion was originally a Priest track, dropped from the Turbo album. I am not sure if I ever heard the Priest version but I must say that I much more prefer the original Prisoner of Your Eyes over Halford's shorter remake of that track on Studio Insurrection.

The best "extra" tracks on Studio Insurrection are for me: Sad Wings, Hell's Last Survivor, and the  immensely powerful Light Comes out of Black & Screaming in the Dark. Holy f*ck this rools!

Excellent metal songs, kicking the crap out of the general work of most other bands.

Forostar, again: The only studio tracks on Live Insurrection are the ones they didn't perform live on the tour. I've got like 8 bootlegs that supports my statement. Every single one of those could've been on Live Insurrection so Halford was very consistent. I didn't know that about Hearts of a Lion though. Cool!

But it all sounds so studio that I just have to name it that way. Sometimes. I'll quit now. ;)
Still, I like to listen to this double album a lot.

I have a bootleg of Rock in Rio and it sounds like they used Breaking the Law for LInsurrection. Unfortunately Halford added the vocals in the studio (on RiR he didn't sing).

After discovering this, and knowing how much he faked in the past with Priest on live releases, I am not sure how many other things they added/redone in the studio.

The Priest version of Heart of a Lion can be found on this expensive box, Metalogy. I never wanted to buy that box since it only has 1 track I didn't own: Heart of a Lion.

Here it is! Just found it!

Heart of a Lion by Priest

"We actually created that song here in the Valley - I think we were working at Chaton Studios when we were doing the TURBO sessions. We kind of kicked it around here, then we went to a bunch of other places, but that song was created here in the Valley, and it's just one of these little diamonds that kind of escapes the pile. "In determining what gets on a record and what doesn't, you just look and especially for a moment like this, you think of everything, and somebody goes, 'Whatever' to this song you did, and this 'Heart Of A Lion' track has just been always on the back burner, especially with the Priest fans: 'What is this song? We've heard the title, blah, blah...', so now it's time to include it."
-Rob Halford-2004-

lyrics:
Crashing through the city streets
Caught in the glare of the midnight sun
I've got wings upon my feet
But locked as I run
Now you're just a breath away
From knocking me senseless to the ground
No escape I hear you say
You're never safe - from a

Heart of a lion
My heart of a lion
I close my eyes, I see your face
It seems like I'm gripped within your spell
Will I ever win this race?
You're moving in
Hear my name cried from the sky
There is a stillness that cuts the air
In your hold I know that I
Will never find the love - of a

All around I hear the sound
Of your mighty roar
As I give I find that
You are calling out for more
All around I hear the sound
Of your mighty roar
As I give I find that
You are crying
Cold heart of a lion

Hmm, I used to have that bootleg (I'm yet to get the DVD - I'm putting it on my Christmas wishlist) but I've never thought of that and now that I don't havei t anymore I can't tell. I do remember though that Halford said that when they played that song the crowd was so loud that he couldn't hear himself so he just let them sing it.  :D

Thanks a lot for the info on Heart of a Lion!  :ok:

Edit: Apparently, Racer X covered it.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAD1SHtP8Lk

Almost. :) Not a cover because it was never released earlier. The song was a gift by Halford. Priest wrote it, didn't use it for own release, gave it to Racer X who were friends of Halford. From wiki:  "Heart of a Lion" was a Judas Priest song dropped from the Turbo album—the song was a birthday gift by Rob Halford, who had befriended Jeff Martin in the band's early days.
