Great Opening Lines

Once I dreamed that love would come and sweep me up away
Now it seems life's passed me by, I'm still alone today

This deserves to mentioned. It was

Here Come The Tears - Judas Priest

I leave it all behind me now, so many miles away.

Scorpions, The Zoo

Next - and this one is very tricky.
The following first line is not what people would usually call a first line ... but it is the first thing you hear a person say.
Furthermore, there are two possible answers.
Finally, there may be more songs in which this is the first line ... remember, to be correct, the song has to have these words before the first verse.

"Oh my god."

Ok.  This one should be easy:

"Think I'll pack it in and buy a pick-up,
Take it down to L.A."

EDIT:  Um, okay, maybe it's not so easy.  Hint:  NOT a metal song.  More classic rock, pretty old, very mellow.  The guy who sings it is about as big a rock legend as one can be without being a member of the Beatles or Rolling Stones.

Sorry, no clue.

If you ask me, the biggest legend after the Beatles and Stones is Zeppelin ... but you called the artist a guy, not a band. So the biggest individual legend is either Dylan or Hendrix. I'm guessing Dylan.

I don't know if he's bigger than Hendrix or Dylan, but pretty close -- and from the same era, though still active.

Another hint:  these lyrics are also the opening lines of an album that Rolling Stone ranked #79 of all time (and one of my favorites).

I'm taking a leave of absence from the forum until the L.A. show to avoid tour spoilers.  (There's already a minor one in the "won't be IM's last album" thread, which I already knew about from the press release and warned people about, but since there isn't any discipline among the noobs, I'm playing it safe and taking a vacation.)  And, since no one seems to know the answer to my lyric, the answer is "Out on the Weekend," the first track on Neil Young's classic album, Harvest

Au revoir.

I guess cornfed won't be giving a new lyric.  Suicidehummer, you guessed the artist, so a new one please.

Uh, let's see...

"Gonna tell you a story" - no wait that's Maiden.

Okay,

"When I look into your eyes
I can see a love restrained..."

Probably an easy one...

Or ... AC/DC, "Whole Lotta Rosie". :P

Guns N Roses, "November Rain"

I'm off to find a good quote... ...got it.

"The sirens are screaming and the fires are howling way down in the valley tonight"
