Great Opening Lines

Judas Priest - Hell Bent For Leather

(might I add it contains one of the greatest lines in heavy metal history ever - there's many who tried to prove that they're faster, but they didn't last and they died as they tried!)

Agreed, that line is legendary, and is nicely followed by the solo. It's really what makes the song special.

And by the way, I don't remember which song that new line is from.

The Slayer reference was not obscure (heck, even I knew that one).  Nor was the Judas Priest reference.  The Helloween reference was by far more obscure.  Had to Google Perun's second lyric (the one now pending), and though I didn't know it, it's a song with which everyone on this forum will be at least a little familiar, which is the right speed for this thread, in my view.

It's one of Helloween's most famous and popular songs. I have played it a zillion times in my life.
But I didn't know it. I suck with lyrics. Sound is what I need to guess something.  ;)

Every time I leave you say you won't be there - and you're always there.

Jet City Woman - Queensryche, eh? one of my alltime favourites....

Here's a song for ya: I don't know where I'm going But, I sure know where I've been...

Hint: the introduction above is uttered by it's frontman before almost any song in their concert....

Finally, one I can answer: Whitesnake - Here I Go Again.

And for the next one....

...... is the end, Winter it will send.

The first word is removed, for obvious reasons, and replaced by dots.

"Blackened is the end...," by Metallica

Encouraging that I knew the last couple.  Thanks for using big-name artists!

Next one:  "I think about closing the door, and lately I think of it more"

Black Sabbath - Falling off the Edge of the World

Seventeen and nature's queen, know what I mean?

Again, I know that one.......

UFO - Rock Bottom.

I had to go through the whole song in my head before I realised what UFO track it was.

Can you feel it, see it, hear it today.

I think that is Faith No More, Epic... right?

If I got that right, here is an easy one:

It's just one of those days, when you don't wanna wake up....

Spot on. I had imagined a poster from the States to get that one.

As for yours, no idea - again. :(

Sorry, I thot a few more would recognize it.  I know LC does, Deano would.

Here is the second part of the tune, and if no one gets it by the time I get back tomorrow afternoon, I'll post the answer and someone else can give it a go:

...everything is fucked, everybody sucks, you don't really know why, but you wanna justify rippin some one's head off!

Wasted, I should ban you for putting up a Limp Bizkit lyric. Break Stuff, for reference.

Through the flames I watch, as you plead on your knees - the reaper awaits...

It's old Iced Earth, and from the Night of the Stormrider album IIRC.  I guess we're not allowed to listen to any songs to check.  So I'm guessing Travel in Stygian.

Edit: I checked, seems I was right so:

In my hour of need, ha, no you're not there.
And though I reached out for you, wouldn't lend a hand

I know that one - I was going to use it myself at some point: Megadeth - My Darkest Hour. (Really good song is that.)

She was a fast machine, She kept her motor clean.

She was the best damn woman that I'd ever seen
She had the sightless eyes, telling me no lies
Knocking me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share, had me fighting for air
Told me to come but I was already there

'Cause the walls start shaking
The earth was quaking
My mind was aching
We were making it and

You shook me all night long!

(By AC/DC, for those in doubt)

I got pictures of naked ladies lying on their beds

Crap, here goes two songs I know, while I'm not paying attention, and here comes Perun with one I don't know.

And I really agree with Albie on My Darkest Hour. It's a great song.

Ha!  ..I'll consider that a warning  ;)

I know this one, I have it on 12" vinyl picture disc. WASP - F*** Like A Beast - released on the Music For Nations label as, so the story goes, Capitol refused to release it even though WASP were on that label at the time.

Now we're ........ and we take no shit, And we don't care for writing hits  << funny, I always thought that was "writing this", but Dark Lyrics say otherwise (and my CD of it has no lyric sheet - just a load of pictures and thank yous).

NB: The dots replace the band's name - I can't make it that easy!

I love this song, I have the cd with all three versions.  I like the Def Live version  "Joey fucked up"

Anthrax, I'm the Man

I don't remember where I was, I realized life was a game...
