Good Queen Albums

I don't remember I found it that exciting. But I should give it a spin, as soon as I can find. The current state of my CD order is a mess.

I have A Night at the Opera, and it's sorta boring.
I also have a compilation and it's better. Queen has some amazing songs, but I can't listen to too much at a time.

Whether or not it is your cup of tea, you might be the first person to ever describe that album as "boring". There is a lot happening on that record.

I've heard most of the songs off that album and none of it was boring.

I get bored, what can I tell ya. Every song on the album is good on it's own, but together they bore the hell out of me. I don't know why, they just do.

If you like metal and hard rock, definitely check 'Queen' and 'Queen II'.

This song gives the best of Zeppelin a run for their money:

This riff is as heavy as anything that early Sabbath did:

It's too bad so many people associate Queen as a pop-based hit machine, because they covered so many diverse sounds in their catalogue and could rock with I'M TOO FUCKING LAZY TO SPELLCHECK best of them.

WOW. That's news to me, really.

I own "Made in Heaven" ,"Live at Wembley", and have a couple of cassetes with a sort of the "Best off" their "Best of".

I thought their heavier songs were Bohemian and Hammer to Fall.

That's the problem with Queen's Greatest Hits releases: They are only their highest-charting singles, and in no way representative of the band's back catalogue. Which is why I would advise new fans to be cautious. While I got into the band with those compilations myself, I wasn't a full-fletched metalhead back then. Queen was a hard rock band, but the compilations don't show, so they might even turn off potential fans. You are indeed better advised to just randomly pick one of their albums to get a broader image of their versatility and flamboyance.

Wasn't sure where to put this, so I put it here:  Google has a pretty cool "doodle" today honoring what would have been Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday.  Worth checking out.  Just go to Google.com, and hit the "Play" arrow on the doodle.

Oh, a Queen thread!
I'm in, just to be in.

Now playing: You Take My Breath Away
So much feeling, it's almost incredible, dat piano, dat Freddie.
One day I'm gonna learn to play that, once I have access to some piano :D
