what are their other good albums?
Each one.
As a hard rock fan, you will get the most from their first seven albums:
Queen,
Queen II,
Sheer Heart Attack,
A Night at the Opera,
A Day at the Races,
News of the World and
Jazz. My personal favourite is
Innuendo, though - that's a monster of an album. You might want to stay away from their eighties efforts at first, because they tend to be quite poppy, although there are a lot of gems on them. Like anyone else, you will probably have your biggest problems with
Hot Space, which is in parts very funky, and not quite what would be, or indeed was, expected from them. But even that one has a lot of great songs, especially
Put out the Fire, which is a classic Queen rocker.
The problem is that Queen has several phases, each of which have their own distinct sound. Their first three albums probably have the most appeal to metalheads, because they are very hard, very heavy and also rather experimental.
Sheer Heart Attack is the most polished and popular of those, but I personally think the first two are more exciting. If you want a more "classic" hard rock Queen, go for the next batch,
A Night at the Opera through
Jazz. Those are the albums that made Queen the quintessential rock band of the seventies. I think their creative genius is echoed on
Innuendo, albeit with a much more mature attitude, which is what appeals to me. Their 1980 album,
The Game, is what turned many hard rock fans off the band, but it remains one of their best-known and most popular albums. The same goes for
The Works,
A Kind of Magic and
The Miracle: Unfairly despised by hard rock fans for their poppy sound, yet very much remembered in the general public. I think they are all great (maybe
The Miracle has a little too much filler).
So, I don't know, if you want to play it safe go for
Sheer Hear Attack, if you want to know what brilliance defined is, go for
Innuendo.
