Ghost

The new album is more of a grower compared to the previous two albums (which made kinda definitive impression pretty quick). For me it's one of those situations where the singles turn out to be the best tracks on the record, so the first contact with the rest was slightly underwhelming. Satanized and Lachryma are top-tier Ghost songs to me. Peacefield is a notch below them, but still a great one. After a few listens I can say De Profundis Borealis, Missilia Amori, Marks of the Evil One and Umbra are all cool, but I feel like they are not as crystallized in terms of writing as Satanized, Lachryma. Definitely enjoyable, though.

I love the solo in Missilia Amori. Sounds a bit like something Janick would play, check it out:

Decent listen on first listen, better than the previous album. The first album is still miles better than anything that came after though. Enjoyed that track 5 on their 6th album has the same groove as The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner

As for me, the new album is an absolute banger! It’s already my second favorite from them. And I think Tobias has written his own ‘Trooper’ — ‘Cenotaph,’ that is. :rocker:
Tobias has a real knack for great melodies, the kind that stir up a feeling of longing and nostalgia.

Everytime I listen to the album I have a new favourite song! Not a single weak track on it and I love the 80´s vibe created by the synths and AOR vocal lines.

Marks Of The Evil One is great.

I don't dig Umbra at all, though, worst song on the album by far. I can't believe this one is on the current setlist.

better than the previous album.

Not so sure of this after a couple more listens, definitely nothing as shit as Hunter's Moon or Twenties on this one, but not sure theres anything as good as the better tracks on the last album

Impera had some lesser tracks (WITS , 20´s, DATHOML)
This album none!

I agree with that, but I think it started and finished well, Kaisarion and Respite on the Spittalfields are great openers and closers with a kind of cross between Seven Deadly Sins/To Live is to Die vibe, and then Spillways and Grfitwood are better catchy hits than from this album, but yeah the middle of Impera is pretty weak, weaker than this record alright.
