This is a photo from a friend who works in Xinjiang.
Apparently this is the only place on earth that green raisin is produced and it’s vital for their economy. They also produce the 30% of world’s cotton.
So here’s the thing: Every October about this time they burry the vines under the ground, in order to save them from the freezing -30 temperatures. And from 25 February until ~19 March they unbury them. They put a plastic canvas in the way of the channel and then they apply the ground. And 3-4 days before that they water the vines so they become more tender and flexible. Obviously they don’t bury the vines they will die.
I found this quite charming so I posted it here.
