Trick or Treat is a fantastic little horror but in what way is it metal/rock? All the others fit the bill perfectly...

RUSH-Beyond The Lighted Stage
it made my love for RUSH even greater than it already was. F666 didn't do that.
Metal: A Headbangers Journey
Probably the best metal doc. Not only does it go extensively through the bands we all know and love, it also goes into more extreme groups you don't hear about often and it also dives into the cultural aspects of the genre.
The Wall
Perhaps my favorite movie of all time. Got me into Floyd.
A Hard Days Night
Just a fun movie.
Lemmy
A new one. It is very good.
Anvil:The Story Of Anvil
Although I'm not a fan of the band, I found the film to be very entertaining and very well done.

Wasn't Ozzy and Gene Simmons in Trick or Treat?

Yes both ozzy and gene simmons are in it ,Its about a rock fan and a rock star albeit a dead one and its got a great soundtrack from fastway its a metal film.
I do  see what your saying it is the odd one out in that list but  i still say its a rock film.

How about Wayne's World and Wayne's World 2:shred:

Excellent.

Here's another one:

I've got to warn you though:

And how about Heavy Metal Parking Lot? A documentary filmed before a Judas Priest gig somewhere in redneck-America. Really worth it.

And for a good one, A Headbanger's Journey was already mentioned, so I'm going to throw in the quasi-sequel, Global Metal. Excellent stuff.

I haven't seen that one yet but I really want to.

Another interesting film is The Decline Of Western Civilization Part II A Very eye opening look at Metal at the time.

Dazed and Confused
&
Almost Famous
(too lazy to search for graphics)  (EDIT: also too lazy to notice that Feverdog put Almost Famous in his opening post)

Also, the Runaways poster reminded me of a documentary I saw recently called The Mayor of the Sunset Strip, which was about Rodney Bingenheimer and his entourage, including Kim Fowley, the madman who started and managed The Runaways.  Highly recommended -- this dude Bingenheimer was a DJ and club owner who knew and hung out with basically everyone famous in music in the 1960s and 70s, and in fact helped MAKE many of them famous, even though he seems like a naïf.  He's now a fairly lonely guy living in a modest, cramped apartment in Hollywood.

The Song Remains The Same is good too.
Well, except for those ridiculous "interludes" -- the only remotely cool one is Bonzo's with the drag racer.  The gangster bit, which if memory serves was Peter Grant's contribution, was particularly awful. :P

By the way, can we just stipulate that concert films of legendary bands, by definition, "rock"??

You're right, those are terrible. But the performance is very good.
