Some of these bands are laughable but hey...

Don't you mean all? /biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":D\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /] (except Spandau Ballet of course)

Well, it all depends what you class as rock and what you call hard-rock, but I like
Pink Floyd
Led Zepellin
AC/DC
Queen
Rush
and many others. I also like videogame music, both metal and classical. I am quite gone on a touch of the old classical music in general, actually, especially film soundtracks. Why? Well, all classical rock bands have influenced the metal bands I like, as have many classical composers. And let's face it, full scale orchestras are just too sexy /tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":P\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /]

Journey
Kiss
Kiss is metal!
Journey isn't metal, but a great band.

Of course Kiss is metal. Have you never heard the phrase "Kiss my shiny metal ass?" style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":P\" border=\"0\" alt=\"tongue.gif\" /]

When you are not listening to Iron Maiden or indeed any other band/artist of the metal/heavy rock genre who do you listen to and why?
I quite like to listen to Level 42 simply because (generally we are talking about their early stuff here) they have written some great songs. Mark King is also one of the greatest bass players ever.

Prodigy I quite like. I like the heaviness of their sound.

More on the side of non metal type rock, Pink Floyd are excellent. I also have reasonable collection of early Stiff Little Fingers (I got into them on the rumour that Steve Harris actually liked them too, God knows where I got that from!) ::

I once heard a rumour that Harris likes the Load albums more than anything else in Metallica's discography. Sure, that's considered heresy in metal land but hey, you like what you like. /happy.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"^_^\" border=\"0\" alt=\"happy.gif\" /]

Considering the stuff Steve grew up listening to, that would actually make perfect sense.

Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Allman Brothers Band
Gov't Mule
The Beatles
Stevie Ray Vaughan
B.B. King
The Rolling Stones
W.A. Mozart

just to name a few

Zeppelin
Mozart
Bach
Rush
And i dont know if Liquid Tension Experiment is considered metal or not, but i really dont stray to far from the metal genre.

Led Zeppelin
Black Sabbath (may or may not be considered metal)
Guns N' Roses (same thing as above)
Jimi Hendrix
AC/DC
Aerosmith
Queen
Def Leppard
Cream

I can't stand the emo category in general, but I won't dismiss individual band that are classified as "emo."

My favorite band of all time is They Might Be Giants.
You rule man. You are the only person I've ever hear say that. Ana Ag is one of the best songs ever!

My favorite non-metal band is Dream Theater. Scenes from a Memory has become one of my favorite albums, although I did not like it very much at first.
Man, how many times have I heard that one? My friend used to despise DT. The more he expressed his hateful feelings for them, the more I made sure I had them playing when he was around. Then one day he asked me to copy SFAM for him. He is almost as big of a DT fan as I am now.

On the topic... I :: The Cure, New Order, The Doors, Pixies, and The Damned

I friend of mine told me he wasn't to fond of them, I played "home" for him.... that's all it took, he went out and got Six degrees, Train of Thought and Scenes /biggrin.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\":D\" border=\"0\" alt=\"biggrin.gif\" /] One down half the world to go /cool.gif\" style=\"vertical-align:middle\" emoid=\"B)\" border=\"0\" alt=\"cool.gif\" /] oooooooh yeeeaaah

Dream Theater have thei high moments, but as a band, overall, they seem over-rated to me. Most of their stuff is very un-melodic and generaly boring, because of the weird changes in tempo, and kilometric solos...
