Fascism in 'Middle England'

Absolutely. Also in politics, best way is to talk about these problems, and not to look away from it. Happened here in the Netherlands as well. Old parties had to renew some policies in order not to be punished by the voters.

I am curious how they will do that in England.

Extremer parties got more overhere but "thanks" to the crisis people are not sure how those one issue parties will deal with problems like this. This might help the traditional parties to stay alive and survive the storm of populists.

The problem with our political system is that the 2 major parties have each had 50 years or so of trying to run the country with various degrees of success and failure. The 3rd main one (liberals) are treated as something as a joke, this doesn't give us much of an alternative. Also once upon a time you could separate the 2 main parties(Labour and conservative)by distinctive policies. However the lines between the two are becoming blurred.

Also, both major parties have become embroiled in sleaze. The main talking point at the moment is the fact that a lot of our politicians are claiming hundreds of thousands of pounds in expenses. If you or I did it we would be investigated for fraud, they however have made up their own rules and get away with it. Did you know that our Home Secretary was claiming expenses for porn films rented by her husband!

I normally vote Conservative, but for the first time since I was eligible to vote, I'm considering not voting at all.Trouble is I feel like I'm betraying my Granddad who fought all over Europe to help give me the right to have a vote.
