Evolution vs. Intelligent Design

That guy gave me an Idea! We (and by we I mean mainly SMX, Maverik and LC) should send Adrian Smith's holy scriptures to the Kansas Board of Education hahaha, followed by complaints from the 'Arryans [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Seriously though, The biggest issue with Intelligent Design guys which I think are the same guys from Creationism (same shit different smell [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]) is that it keeps asking "real" scientists for the missing link, when they don't seem to understand evolution not only occurs gradually but also in leaps and bounds caused by mutations.

I'm so glad I am not going/didn't go to primary and secondary education here in the states....

Occam's razor postulate xstates that the simplest explanation to a scientific problem is most probably the right one. Hmm, well, both theories would seem good to me, as long as we had solid proof about the existence of a higher being. But untill that proof, i still believe that evolution seems more plauzable

You think that the existence of an all-powerful, omniscient and omnipotent being would be the simplest explanation as compared to a sequence of natural events? Think again! Just like "deus ex machina" in drama. Indeed, the simplest solution to a complicated, insolvable problem.
I would therefore not say science gives us the simplest, but the more tangible, and to some, more satisfactory explanation.

Gee mav, I don't know, What can be simpler than saying a magic Unicorn in the sky created everything? I don't think it gets simpler than that... [!--emo&:P--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Well, think about it. What would such a being be like? It would have to be the most complex thing in this complex universe. A being that's everywhere at the same time and that knows absolutely everything. A being able to exist beyond the constraints of time and space. A being able to create things of such complexity that a human mind cannot even begin to comprehend. A being like this would certainly be infinitely complex itself, don't you think?

That was the point I was trying to make.

*goes back to the wall and tries to start a conversation with the fourth stone*

Wall replies: true, it would be infinitely complex.

Just like the realms of human consciousness. They can't be simply explained by a sequence of neurons and their connections, like a computer, right? Yes, science may find answers to all questions in the future, until then allow some of us to believe, please [!--emo&--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/rolleyes.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'rolleyes.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Science can only explain what can be tested. The "god hypothesis" cannot.

Your faith (or anybody else's) is in no danger.

I know, it was a joke [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--].

Well, ID states that not only a divine force could've created life, but also a race of advanced aliens. That's not as far-fetched as the infinetly complex being, now is it?
