End of an Empire

Yes we should. The Australia start can be tough but that's why I mentioned securing Asia after that (always helps if you happen to get some armies in Asia to start off as well). It's also fortunate if you can get a starting position around Central America as well so you can run disruptive gorilla tactics for a while you're building up your base in the South Pacific (until you eventually get annihilated of course).

Well, you only need to defend 3 territories to defend Asia - Ukraine, Middle East, and Kamchatka.

That assumes you have Australia, LC. And like I said, it takes quite a bit of time to get all of Asia from the Australia start. Great fun if you can do it, but difficult.

I prefer North America if I can get it, or the South America / Africa combo. The latter is especially challenging - 4 points to defend - but gives access to either NA or Europe (or even Asia), so there are more options for development.

... and I don't recall anyone ever STARTING a campaign in Asia. I'd like to try it sometime though....

Whoa, hang on.

They don't mention until after you sign up: it costs $25 for a "premium membership" to have password-protected private games.
So this isn't what we want - anyone could join a game I set up.
We want something that holds space for forum members.

I'll keep searching...

Good luck with the mission SMX, I hope what you find can circumnavigate my firewall at work too.

Alright, here's another option...

http://landgrab.net/landgrab/Home

This one seems to be entirely free.
However, it appears that all interested participants need to sign up on that site before I can create the game (new game creation allows you to invite existing site members, but not leave it open for new members, I think).

So I'm gonna sign up on landgrab - anyone else who does so, post it here, and when we've got enough we can start a game.
It might also be helpful if we stay coordinated on MSN. I've got LC and Wasted on my MSN contact list - any others interested, add me (parmstrong.smx@hotmail.com).

It would be disturbing if the US Military's network security was overwhelmed by such a juvenile prank.  It wouldn't surprise me, but it would be disturbing.

OR you guys could just join facebook, which is free, and add the application ATTACK! which is essentially Risk... I've been playing it for weeks now and you can play "private" games with your "friends"
