El Paso 1999 gig

I created this thread to discuss about a Maiden gig from '99, which I find very interesting:

It turns out it's well known that at the 1999 Los Angeles concert, Dave Murray fractured his left pinky finger, and the three following concerts, in San Jose, Las Vegas, and Mesa, were canceled (according to Wikipedia). It's said that by the next scheduled concert, which was in El Paso, Dave had recovered from his injury, but he was only able to play the rhythm parts, not the lead parts, and that the lead parts were played only by Janick and Adrian. The sad thing is that no recording or record of this show exists, but it would be very interesting to see Adrian and/or Janick play Dave's solos.

What makes me wonder a lot is the fact that Dave only played rhythm parts or if he also managed to play solos in this show, because since there is no record of the show it is difficult to know. So I'd like to know if anyone of you has more details about this show (or the previous ones) or if anyone of you attend this particular gig. I'll read you guys.

I hope there are details of this on the Infinite Dreams book, I know it's difficult to make it happen, but it would be nice

Interesting.. Adrian missed some shows and they played without him, but for Dave, they cancelled the shows?

Hmm..I was not aware of that.

Janick and Dave spent eight years performing Iron Maiden’s catalog without Adrian, so returning to the 1990–1998 arrangements probably isn’t too difficult for them. Most of the songs in the 1999 setlist had already been played by the Gers/Murray lineups, except for Phantom of the Opera, Stranger in a Strange Land, and Powerslave. Janick and Adrian likely shared or doubled the Phantom and Powerslave solos, or perhaps Janick just did some quick overnight studying, while Stranger was simply dropped from the set. Replacing Dave overnight, however, is a bit trickier, even if you’re already familiar with certain sections of the songs. It’d be great to hear a bootleg of that show!

Hey  I already tackled this question last year page 31/32 of short answered questions (dunno how to move the post here so I quote):

"Since the Ed Hunter Tour was at full swing this time around 25 years ago, a question related to that subject. Anyone who has heard the El Paso gig (August 5th 1999), can you answer: Davey didn´t play any solos due to broken finger so did Adrian and Janick fill in or was there simply just background guitars on those spots? It is a shame I have never found that gig on YouTube (and probably never will, nod to Bruce´s speech before Transylvania in A Real Live or Dead One, I always mix which One is which). Cheers!"

Now I fall to what I consider a dignified silence.
