Dragonforce are good but they suck live!

Yes, taste should be separated from judging skills in a neutral manner.

That final vocal on Run of the Mill clearly ends into an abnormal fake tone, merging into some helium kind of voice, nicely done with the mixtable. Still by far my favourite song from that album. That midpiece is the most hypnotic kind of music ever made! :)

I don't know about the rest of the folks here, but I'm not rationalizing taste. The ability for someone to sing is not a matter of taste but skill which is what I am arguing, Kiske has skill, whether you like it or not that is indeed a matter of taste... duh.

I agree with Onhell. For example, I might not particularily like Cecilia Bartolli's voice (mezzosopran Italian singer), but there is no denying that she has skill.

That kind of concludes what I've been saying, since I'm a fan of borth Kiske and Halford. Both are on my shortlist. I have said that it's a matter of taste whether you prefer the clean singing or the screams but you still can't deny or diminish Rob Halford's ability by pretty much saying "All he can do is scream" and/or that he can't sing clean.

No one stated it the way you put it now. You denied that Halford screams when he goes as high as Kiske.
Therefore you refused to see the difference in style and skill.

Look, there's nothing wrong with screaming. So defending Halford was not necessary in this case, no one attacked him. And next time a bit less bias would be appreciated. It keeps coming back all the time, it's getting annoying.

What is annoying is you not reading my posts. I have pointed out that Halford does indeed scream nowadays, and unlike you stated the fact that Kiske does not have a higher range. Clear simple fact. You however keep claiming Kiske's a more skillfull singer. But really, what do you know about vocal techniques? And for that matter, what do I really know about vocal skills? Not that much , except how to make high pitched screams. Neither you or me are in a position to claim that the other person is a better singer, but still you keep doing that, just check your post before mine. And if that's not bias, I don't know what is. Period.

Okay people, calm down... it's just heavy metal singers we're talking about here...

I think it's pretty funny how people try to rationalise what is a matter of taste. So the bloke can hit every note in this fucking universe- I still don't like the way his voice sounds.

I never tough of it like that :ok:

I think it's pretty funny how you have nothing of value to offer this pointless discussion.

Don't forget the blue and pink tutus  :D

Back "on topic"

If Helloween's wearing a pink tutu, and Gamma Ray is wearing a blue tutu, does that necessarily mean all other bands are wearing tutus?  I think Iced Earth are wearing denim.
*checks recent publicity pictures

Yep, definitely denim.

Thankyou very much and he is right I really am trying to make an improvemeant.

1. Just to reply to Onhell : Kiske has power in his voice?! I've listened to Helloween a lot, i've never noticed anything special in his voice. He's like other 10283 power metal singers, high pitched, narrow-banded without any considerable power.

If you want to hear power + pitch, put on the second chorus from 22 Acacia Avenue @ Dortmund Festival '83.

2. And yes, Dragonforce sucks in general. Their music is completely unimaginitave. They compensate with speed, which they can't deliver live on stage. Their solos are just a bunch of sweep arpeggios which they do sloppy. Even in video demonstrations, at moderate-to-high tempos, they are sloppy.

3. Adrian Smith is larger than you.

He's NOT like other power metal singers, other power metal singers are like him, BIG difference. He's the template all others have model themselves after. From Kotipelto to Sammet. The only one that can even come close is Kotipelto. And I've already mentioned enough times good examples of Kiske's power, don't see the need to repeat myself.

Chronology is indeed important. Most other power metal singers have a smaller range, sing less high.

Ok, my mistake. Others are like him. All right.

I still can't hear his power. Do you even know what it means to have power in the voice?

What I find most impressive about Michael Kiske is that his quality as a singer has only improved over the years. I don't think he's ever sounded better that on Revolution Renaissance's New Era which just came out this year. For those who don't know, Revolution Renaissance is a side project led by Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki.
