Hello @all!

Sorry for my bad english!
I have a question. When the songs "Doctor Doctor" and "Always Look On The Bride Side Of Life"  was first played at a concert?

Many greetings...  :)

Good question, In my memory the "Doctor Doctor" thing did not start before 1999's The Ed Hunter (or even later).
Small chance that they did it on the 1998 Virtual XI tour but I'm pretty sure it wasn't on The X-Factour of 1995

"Always Look On The Bride Side Of Life" goes back much further. I remember I heard that on the first gig I saw which was on the Fear of the Dark tour, but it might have started in the eighties already.

I've always thought that the Monty Python thing was linked to Maiden doing a promo-video with one of them (Can I Play with Madness). Maybe I'm totally wrong, but apart for Steve's love for UFO and this particular song and Maiden's love for the monty Python, I've always wondered if this had something to do with royalties. Being aired in a concert, those songs imply the paiement of royalties, and maybe this is a way of helping people they appreciate, as they did previoulsy with covers. But maybe this a stupid explanation.

I know for a fact that Doctor Doctor was played before the XFactour started.....I remember it was in Montreal and I know it was done for a fact because I remember singing it with a buddy of mine I was there with.

As far as Bright Side of Life....first time I heard it end a show was on the video of Raising Hell......not quite sure if it ended other shows......I always remember Maiden shows ending with the house lights going on and some faint music in the background btut not Monty Python.

Alright, this might be the first time then. Who knows.

Didn't maiden cover Doctor, Doctor with Blaze?  I don't recall when.

In 1995, b-side Lord of the Flies.

All I know is that you can really tell at a Maiden show who the diehards are because they recognize the show starts with Doctor, Doctor and not the first Maiden song.  And that they all sing along to the Python song.

Both have become such a big part of the experience for me that I'd be bummed if they stopped doing either at this point.

I still get shivers EVERY time I hear the intro to Doctor, Doctor.  It's gone from a killer UFO tune to something that signifies that Iron Maiden will be on stage in about 6 minutes.  :yey:

Amen, when doctor doctor comes on about 50% of the crowd go mad with joy after waiting for about a year since buying the ticket and the other half are like  wondering why theres such a reaction to a UFO tune over the PA
When the lights dim immediately after they must assume were all psychics
and its always nice hanging out in the warzone of a pit at the end of the show whistling along to Bright side of life

When I saw them in 2008 my neck was sore from headbanging and my voice hoarse from screaming through Doctor Doctor alone.

Man that was a great show/tour.  :edmetal:

Doctor Doctor was not played in the '80s and it wasn't played on No Prayer tour either (it had no pre-intro, like tours before it).
The Monty Python track must've been used from Fear Of The Dark era. No Prayer tour had no outro, nor did World Slavery Tour and those before it. Somewhere On Tour shows were closed by Star Trek theme song, while SSOASS tour had some strange effect-like thing (some synthy booms and explosions) closing it.

OK, I was on the Piece of Mind tour (at Hammersmith) and "Doctor, Doctor" was played immediately before the band came on stage (or more precisely, the intro music). Not only that, the volume was turned up to get the crowd going.

This may of been deliberate or just an organic process but it definitely happened.

I am really sure it did not happen @ Fear of the Dark tour. But I clearly remember the Python song, after the gig.

I have that wonderful soundboard bootleg from one of the Hammersmith dates, and the show starts with theme song from film (Where Eagles Dare).

He clearly states that there was no intro to opening song, in other words Doctor Doctor was the intro to opening song.
Maiden used 663 Squadron score for No Prayer On The Road. Hammersmith show, too. I sampled the bootleg.
