Dissapointment about setlist 6/4/2012 (spoilers)

Ok I don't know how much of a spoiler this is, I figured it might be for the European leg of the Maiden England tour,
but anyway I was disappointed that Hallowed Be Thy Name wasn't in the set. While it may be overplayed for some (including the band) it was my first Maiden concert and I was looking forward to hearing it live. I suppose I don't blame them but it was still disappointing.

The reason why they don't play it is simple to me - it's too demanding on the vocals. Also, its place has always been very late in the setlist. I think they feel that they can't do the song justice anymore, and that is why they've removed it from the setlist. I may be wrong, and someday it may return...

I do remember reading an interview where Nicko (I think) said that that setlist with Hallowed Be Thy Name is too vocally demanding for Bruce. I didn't construe it to mean that this would be a long term absence, I think it's just for this tour. My money's on it coming back in 2014.

I remember reading something about it not flowing well in the setlist, which makes sense.

It was a brave decision. Probably the band had to make it, in order to make way for other epics like ATSS and SSOASS. Has nothing to do with vocals, or else it would have been out in earlier tours, unless you guys think that Bruce is doing worse and worse (from 2010 and onwards).

Wouldn't mind reading that. Link?

The only Nicko comment I can remember is him saying that the day Hallowed Be Thy Name is dropped from the set is the day he retires. ;)

I knew I'd have to back this up. Searched for it for awhile, finally found where I read this, it was actually in the tour thread on this forum:

A user on metalsetlist posted this:
"Nicko was on Eddie Trunk's show on monday and said the reason Hallowed isn't in the set is because the original set they had planned was going to be too brutal on Bruce's voice to sing night after night. So they did some rearranging and decided to take it out. He didn't say anything about Infinite Dreams but he did mention they went with ATSS so they could have a break in an otherwise upbeat set.

I guess what we can take from that is Infinite Dreams was probably one of the songs taken out to make sure Bruce wasn't killing his voice every night. It's too bad it won't get played, but at least we understand now why it didn't make the cut.

Cheers. Not that I don't believe this but I wish that I saw Nicko saying this himself. I can't watch that damned Trunk show though (I am not in the US).
