I have added all the Maiden positions I saw and any other bands/songs/albums which seemed important or unusual. I was surprised to see Maiden so far down in the Rock categories, but considering that Maiden are a Metal band I understand the reason for those placings.

Well, that was a hell of a lot. If anyone bothers to check the lists on the website and notices a mistake or something missing, please do post the mistake and i'll correct it.

The fact that Maiden have been classified as Power Metal shows how little the people who make up these polls know. They should stick to what they know best and not have any metal, they are just embarrasing themselves.

As I have said before, what does it matter what the public thinks as long as we all know Maiden rule!?

That's right. Maiden is Traditional Classic Heavy Metal with NWOBHM leanings. To show you what this means, Judas Priest would be Classic Heavy Metal while Blind Guardian is Traditional Heavy Metal. Hammerfall is Traditional True Metal while Manowar is Traditional Classic True Metal. We could also label the boxes "Iron Maiden", "Judas Priest", "Blind Guardian", "Hammerfall" and "Manowar", but that is less phallic, is it?

Guess what? Metal is for pussies!

Most underrated rock albums

65. Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind

Stupid arseholes, if there's one album I think that's OVERrated it must be Piece of Mind. When I was in a shop asking to myself what album to get next I got home with Piece of Mind and was pretty disappointed.

Try listening to Slipknot instead then, it seems to be more your style! [!--emo&:P--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

I like Slipknot and Piece of Mind.

I don't like them both.

I think Slipknot are just screaming senseless bullshit. As for Piece of Mind, it has some good songs on it and it's nice to hear sometimes but it doesn't have the feel to it like Fear of the Dark or Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, that's why I don't think it's a good album, it has nice songs but it hasn't got that thing.

As much as I hate Slipknot, the fact that you like Maiden (and PoM especially) cancels out the negativity of listening to nu metal (in my eyes, anyway). I wouldn't expect Maiden to feature in Rock polls-they ARE a metal band, remember. HBTN, no.1 Metal song??? YEAH BABY!!!! At least someone appreciates Maiden. I quite like that top 5 metal artists. Now let Dark Tranquillity be 6th and I'd be happy ::

:: ahh yes... PoM just hasn't the feel FotD has... ::

Piece of Mind is just a bunch of tracks together on an album, it hasn't got any feeling to it. But if you look at Fear of the Dark it has something dark and sinister. You can't deny it, Fear of the Dark is in my opinion more of an album than Piece of Mind because Piece of Mind is just a bunch of songs, it is also more underrated.

Bunkle, do you like talking rubbish or does it just come naturally? ::

I'm not letting someone talk rubbish about my opinion, especially if he think it's needed to bump a topic to do so. So what I like Fear of the Dark more than Piece of Mind, that doesn't mean you all have to make comments about it. I think I made clear it's just a matter of taste.

Isn't that the whole point of posting in a forum, you show your opinion and others can say what they think about it?

That is. But there are also terms such as being off-topic, flaming and bumping. This was all of these three things (the flaming part can be considered) but if I say what I think in one topic and being off-topic with that fact does not mean people have to make comments on it, especially not off-topic, by bumping and in an offensive way. There is no need to say Fear of the Dark has got no feeling and adding a quote to that with pointing at my quote as if I´ve committed a crime or was terribly wrong, or this is pretty much the impression I get. Now let´s get on-topic again if anyone has something to say about the subject this topic was meant to be about.

Bunkle, your mind seems to be a pretty messy place, and you appear to be unable to express clear thoughts or even understand what you're talking about. Allow me to explain a few things here.

We indeed discuss many things in a thread and, like in a normal conversation, people tend to sometimes drift slightly away from the original topic. Being "off-topic" isn't so bad, as long as it's not blatant crap coming out of nowhere.

Flaming is what happens when some kid repeatedly writes nonsense. It's the forum equivalent of getting your arse wacked by mummy or daddy after you've used up their patience when you keep misbehaving at home. I wasn't flaming you above, but asking a simple question in the light of the quality of the majority of your posts. You don't need to write a philosophical dissertation in every message, but constantly writing dubious posts and then trying to talk down the others is quite annoying. An idiot will never succeed in any attempt to look intelligent. (Note: I'm not calling you an idiot, but what you've shown so far does not denote of an outstanding intelligence either, so please don't pretend to be what you're not.)

As for "bumping", this is simply a term that indicates that someone replied in a thread. Now, if the thread itself has ceased to have any answers for, say, six months or a year, I agree that it can be pretty annoying. Silky has done it for many long-dead discussions, but the posts were somehow relevant and properly written, which is why they didn't vanish into the Land of the Rubbish Posts. The reply I made in the present thread was answering a 1-day-old previous message and, even if it "bumped" the thread (which any reply is supposed to do), I really don't see why you're whining about it.

In summary:
- Write what you like, but don't be surprised if you don't like some of the answers;
- If you feel you've been flamed, re-read what you wrote and think about what caused such a response;
- Get used to "bumping", this is what happens whenever someone replies in a topic.
