Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands world's happiest countries

I fear Wilders' growing popularity though. His party undermines our rechtsstaat, by not respecting the equality rights in our laws.

Yeah, but you can be glad that this guy is still only in the opposition. Here, we have the guy who is undermining the Rechtsstaat right in the government.

Hmmm, sounds bad indeed!

The polls show that Wilders party is getting huge, but the next elections are a few years away still.

*sigh* they can be URBAN too... as long as it is sparsely populated. Look. There are 5 million people in all of finland. There are that many people in Phoenix Arizona. Helsinki, the most populated city has half a million folks, a lot no doubt, but Tucson... dinky, little hell-hole, Tucson, where bars close at fucking 2 in the morning and everything else dies after 6pm, Tucson, has a million people.

So quite honestly, they are rather small cities, however much urbanization has occurred. Many more factors go into it of course, but that is one of the main ones.

I disagree, I very much don't see sparse population as the main cause of suicides.  In my opinion, it's mostly about a Finnish mentality of working out your problems on your own, and on top of that I'd throw society's pressures (quite high at times), darkness, and other stuff.

The countries mentioned seem to have the most happy people because of economic and social safety nets implemented by the government. Whether they have the religious safety net on top of that its hard to say.

What Perun said.  And I would disagree that religion makes people happier, but I won't go into the topic of religion's role in Finland, that usually turns into a massive rant.

not sure about the worlds happiest people , but I remember meeting a group of Swedes in at hotel in Majorca many years ago. They were great fun, friendly, and could drink like fuck. They even invited me and my mates on a beach barbecue with the rest of their group(people of all ages). We had a fantastic time, and were treated extremely courteously by everyone.I thought they were great.
