Dedicated To Chaos, Queensryche's new album

Re: New Queensryche desribed as cross between Rage For Order and Empire

I'll have to read that article, but what a strange 'mix', those two albums.

If I had my preference, I'd rather see something like Rage, or Warning.  Empire was fine, but the least favorite among the 'better' albums.

I can't wait to hear some new Queensryche!  :rocker:

New Queensryche desribed as cross between Rage For Order and Empire

Translation: Queensryche noticed their last efforts were poorly received mostly because of their lacking artistic quality once again so they rip off the names of their classic albums once again hoping people would make the associations they want them to and make their fans wish they'd stopped making music over a decade ago... once again.

I'm really not one of those people who keep chanting "old (insert artist name here) was good but they started sucking with (insert first non-classic release)", but Queensryche really is one of those (few) bands where it is true for me. A real shame.

Re: New Queensryche desribed as cross between Rage For Order and Empire

100% agree with that.

It is sad, and unfortunate, but they just haven't been the same.  I've said it a hundred times, after DeGarmo (burnt out and) left, they just didn't have the same quality of music.

Re: New Queensryche desribed as cross between Rage For Order and Empire

Yeah, Geoff Tate may have the charisma and the impulses, but it doesn't work without DeGarmo.

Considering the quality of Hear In The Now Frontier and Tribe as compared to the other albums with DeGarmo, I don't think he helps QR's sound as much as some think.

Re: New Queensryche desribed as cross between Rage For Order and Empire with "dance"

He faced major burnout between Empire and Promise Land.  The stuff he did after (what little there was) didn't have the edge that he did earlier.  He did have a large impact on why the band was better early on.  Nothing they have done with out him was good as what they did with him.

Re: New Queensryche desribed as cross between Rage For Order and Empire with "dance"

Saw them on the Empire tour when they did Mindcrime in its entirety and they seemed to be at the peak of their powers...

I didn't see them again until they opened for Maiden on the BNW Tour and whether it was because they were opening or whatever, they were underwhelming..

I saw them again opening for Priest on the AOR tour and this time it was sad... :(

they seemed to be very uninspired on stage and the crowd repaid them by using the time to go to the bathroom and get more beer.

I truly thought I had seen the last of QR after that..

When I saw them pulling Mindcrime 2 and the gimmicky American Soldier and then finally a "cabaret" I knew exactly why... now we have a dance version of QR in the works....tarnishing the legacy even more.. :(

..IMHO of course!

Re: New Queensryche desribed as cross between Rage For Order and Empire with "dance"

I saw them opening for Maiden and they were INCREDIBLE! Then I saw them do all of Mindcrime 1 in 2006 and they were just OK. Geoff couldn't hit the high notes anymore since he damaged his voice from smoking.

Ever since I saw a picture from a Queensryche concert, a bald and bearded Geoff Tate in a bathrobe onstage, from that awful cabaret tour, I just want them to split up and stop pissing on their legacy.

This. They would certainly be among Maiden & Priest if they broke up after Promised Land. Tribe was OK too.

Sounds like commercial Def Leppard, but less good.

Check out Tribe! Apart from the mediocre production, it's awesome. Way better than American Soldier.
I know I'm more than half a year late, but thought it was worth mentioning.

I think the new song is decent. Decent, not great.

Re: Queensryche putting finishing touches on new album

Yey New song! I was just thinking about this one.
It's pretty good. Not as good as the classics but it is better then I had anticipated.
