Death Magnetic

(hope there is not a similar thread anywhere)

so fellas, this is a new topic for any information regarding Metallica's new album
I never been a huge Metallica fan, and during late 80s early 90s I was taking party to that Maiden -Metallica debate
but right now I have to admit that I'm exiting about this  :)

playlist :

1] That Was Just Your Life
2] The End of the Line
3] Broken, Beat & Scarred
4] The Day That Never Comes
5] All Nightmare Long
6] Cyanide
7] The Unforgiven III
8] The Judas Kiss
9] Suicide & Redemption
10] My Apocalypse

sounds promissing huh ?

I'm sceptical but hopeful that Metallica could make something decent for a change.  I'm still trying to decide whether I'll download first or buy straight away; new albums should be appreciated at a proper sound quality from proper stereos with the CD booklet etc, but if it sucks, I really don't want to have given Metallica more money and partaken in sending that album up the charts.

I've heard the jokes about the album cover a thousand times, but I think it looks pretty cool.  They really seem to be trying to go back to the 80s though, even changing the logo back in the old direction.  I'm not reading any reviews in advance; I want to make up my own opinion on this 100%.

But The Unforgiven III?  Oh please...  The first one was a good ballad, the second one a plain rip-off that (while pretty good) didn't match the quality of the original, and III sounds like they wanted to fill the disc and couldn't think of anything better.

I'm afraid I won't have time to appreciate this enough though, since there's two other albums I'm really looking forward to that are coming out almost at the same time (the other one on the same day, in fact).

Cyanide, on YouTube. The whole song. Sounds OK.

I know I'm going to probably end up buying this album. ::)

I think I'll buy it too. It gonna be my first purchached Metallica album after Justice (which I bought at the time on its release by the way)

as there are some 'agnete' albums in every group's discography (Load -Reload is a good example or NPFTD -FotD could be another)
I have the feeling that this one will be the 'lost brother' of Justice

Well, it's not St. Anger level, which is an improvement.  The sound is a bit muddled so I'm reserving judgement until the actual album.  But in this song, I hear the "Black Album" part more than the "...And Justice" part.  The solos are great though.

I'm not gonna listen in advance. I'm gonna wait for the album, just like I did for the last Maiden album. (Mostly. I heard Breeg before the rest of AMOLAD.) It's only another month away, not that long to wait.

...something else about this album, is the cover and group's logo :
just another thing that brings in my mind Justice album (along with the white colour)

Rick Rubin as producer would be certainly a magnet for some fans, at least to me it was
just it took maybe too long for Rubin to collaborate with them
it could had happened during late 90s for example -or has to do their new contract with Warner ?

new single released !! -from now on every information regarding this song will be spoiled for those who like to wait

wow !! I quite like that song,
the first secs reminded me Maiden but after a while ok, the classic Metallica sound
classic ?? not really

first of all the voice !! what a surprise !!
I don't remember Hetfield to have sang as smoothly as he sings here and there
-I'm serious....well let's say that he sound different
SOUND
-to *my ears* the sound is deffinately an old school sound ,
but clearly updated after metal's turn to more melodic styl
with a lot of Maidenesque harmonies here and there YES MAIDENISQUE !!
I know that lot of you may say that this is re-done, in Reload,
to them I answer NO, this time is authentic and very well done yesterday and today  in a song
DRUMS
classic play by Lars
VOICE
a great surprise  :ok:
JAMES
maybe  his riffs could have more fantasy, but well

congrats to Metallica for this single -and what a solo !!

Metallica seems to get really evolued this time !! a "simple" and same time great single  :notworthy:

ps / a quite strange statement that I won't explain too much :
Brave New World becomes true with this song

the response was not immediate but even after 8 years Metallica took the message
well, is how I see it

...waiting for your comments  :)

I'm not listening to any songs before the album comes out.  I want it to be a fresh experience.  Thanks for the spoiler tags. :)

Sorry, mate, I'll let you make up your own opinion, but suffice to say, I don't agree entirely with no5.

I would like to have your opinion LC, maybe I'm bit excited who knows, but I mean what I say
you can use the spoiler tags to tell me in which points you agree or not ...if you want to, of course  :)

It might have been a cool instrumental had they shortened some parts.

Overall, I'd say it's a solid track, I could easily see it being a single on the black album.
That was pretty much what I thought.

The single sounds pretty good though a little too long. Much much better than ANYTHING on St Anger. I wasn't hopeful for this album but this and what I've heard of Cyanide is promising.

that were saying quite a lot of non-dedicated maidenfans for AMOLAD generally I remember

this is the phrase  ;)

I see it like a mix between Black and Justice, and for one reason it reminds me much more Justice than Black
