My score:

Second Level of Hell

You have come to a place mute of all light, where the wind bellows as the sea does in a tempest. This is the realm where the lustful spend eternity. Here, sinners are blown around endlessly by the unforgiving winds of unquenchable desire as punishment for their transgressions. The infernal hurricane that never rests hurtles the spirits onward in its rapine, whirling them round, and smiting, it molests them. You have betrayed reason at the behest of your appetite for pleasure, and so here you are doomed to remain. Cleopatra and Helen of Troy are two that share in your fate.

The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Second Level of Hell!

Here is how you matched up against all the levels:
Level Score
Purgatory - (Repenting Believers) - Very Low
Level 1 - (Virtuous Non-Believers) - Low
Level 2 - (Lustful) - Extreme
Level 3 - (Gluttonous) - High
Level 4 - (Prodigal and Avaricious) - Very Low
Level 5 - (Wrathful and Gloomy) - High
Level 6 - (Heretics) - Very High
Level 7 - (Violent) - Very High
Level 8 - (Fraudulent, Malicious, Panderers) - Moderate
Level 9 - (Treacherous) - Moderate

I belong in level 6!

Purgatory (Repenting Believers) Very Low
Level 1 - Limbo (Virtuous Non-Believers) Very Low
Level 2 (Lustful) Very High
Level 3 (Gluttonous) High
Level 4 (Prodigal and Avaricious) Low
Level 5 (Wrathful and Gloomy) High
Level 6 - The City of Dis (Heretics) Very High
Level 7 (Violent) High
Level 8- the Malebolge (Fraudulent, Malicious, Panderers) Very High
Level 9 - Cocytus (Treacherous) High

I'm quite proud of my results, since I think that Inferno, while a great work as literature, is full of sh*t as guide to morality.

You approach Satan's wretched city where you behold a wide plain surrounded by iron walls. Before you are fields full of distress and torment terrible. Burning tombs are littered about the landscape. Inside these flaming sepulchers suffer the heretics, failing to believe in God and the afterlife, who make themselves audible by doleful sighs. You will join the wicked that lie here, and will be offered no respite. The three infernal Furies stained with blood, with limbs of women and hair of serpents, dwell in this circle of Hell.

The Dante's Inferno Test has banished you to the Sixth Level of Hell - The City of Dis!

Here is how you matched up against all the levels:

Seventh Level of Hell

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guarded by the Minotaur, who snarls in fury, and encircled within the river Phlegethon, filled with boiling blood, is the Seventh Level of Hell. The violent, the assasins, the tyrants, and the war-mongers lament their pitiless mischiefs in the river, while centaurs armed with bows and arrows shoot those who try to escape their punishment. The stench here is overpowering. This level is also home to the wood of the suicides- stunted and gnarled trees with twisting branches and poisoned fruit. At the time of final judgement, their bodies will hang from their branches. In those branches the Harpies, foul birdlike creatures with human faces, make their nests. Beyond the wood is scorching sand where those who committed violence against God and nature are showered with flakes of fire that rain down against their naked bodies. Blasphemers and sodomites writhe in pain, their tongues more loosed to lamentation, and out of their eyes gushes forth their woe. Usurers, who followed neither nature nor art, also share company in the Seventh Level.

Purgatory - Repenting Believers - Very Low
Level 1 Limbo - Virtuous Non-Believers - Very Low
Level 2 Lustful - Very High
Level 3 Gluttonous - Very High
Level 4 Prodigal and Avaricious - Moderate
Level 5 Wrathful and Gloomy - High
Level 6 Heretics - Very High
Level 7 Violent - Extreme
Level 8 Fraudulent, Malicious, Panderers - Very High
Level 9 Treacherous - Very High

What kind of fucked up questions are these?

Would you sooner go without sex than go without good-tasting food?
I would gladly go without both if I had too... wierd ass question

People are poor because they deserve to be, and should be given no help.

That depends on the situation. Many poor people are poor because they want to while others are mentally ill and others had no choice.... badly frased

Rich men and women deserve every penny and should spend or save their wealth as they wish. If they stole it... they'll burn in one of the circles of hell, if they earned it legit hell, it's their money.... again wierd question.

Anywho, I like where I'll end up [!--emo&:D--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/biggrin.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'biggrin.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

Your fate has been decided....
You are one of the lucky ones! Because of your virtue and beliefs, you have escaped eternal punishment. You are sent to Purgatory!

Purgatory
------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have escaped damnation and made it to Purgatory, a place where the dew of repentance washes off the stain of sin and girds the spirit with humility. Through contrition, confession, and satisfaction by works of righteousness, you must make your way up the mountain. As the sins are cleansed from your soul, you will be illuminated by the Sun of Divine Grace, and you will join other souls, smiling and happy, upon the summit of this mountain. Before long you will know the joys of Paradise as you ascend to the ethereal realm of Heaven.

I don't think it was ever meant to be as a guide of morality and the church holds it in high regard only because it states Christianity is above secular/pagan teachings. It is Dante's personal hell (think Mel Gibson's THE PASSION). His journey through hell, purgatory and eventually... heaven.

Perhaps I chose my words badly. Let me rephrase: the sense of morality which is implied in the Inferno by the sins of those banished to Hell is something that I find ridiculous in many instances. Whether or not any Church holds the book in high regard is irrelevant to that issue.

I have never seen Mel Gibson's Jesus-movie, and I have no intent of watching it.

Also, the Inferno proper details only Dante's journey through Hell. If you include Purgatory and Heaven, then the work is called The Divine Comedy (the first section of which is the Inferno).

First Level of Hell - Limbo

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Charon ushers you across the river Acheron, and you find yourself upon the brink of grief's abysmal valley. You are in Limbo, a place of sorrow without torment. You encounter a seven-walled castle, and within those walls you find rolling fresh meadows illuminated by the light of reason, whereabout many shades dwell. These are the virtuous pagans, the great philosophers and authors, unbaptised children, and others unfit to enter the kingdom of heaven. You share company with Caesar, Homer, Virgil, Socrates, and Aristotle. There is no punishment here, and the atmosphere is peaceful, yet sad.

you guys are all going on Dante Alligheri's "The Divine Comedy" right?

keep in mind, he had this "vision" while very ill and having a very high fever. he was blurting out these lines of verse and his daughter was writing them down as quickly as she could...so this very well could be a hallucination from a bad flu [!--emo&:p--][img src=\'style_emoticons/[#EMO_DIR#]/tongue.gif\' border=\'0\' style=\'vertical-align:middle\' alt=\'tongue.gif\' /][!--endemo--]

You're joking right? Dante wrote this in exile ALONE, that it is a vision... possible, in fact very likely, a critic of the political climate of the time? even more plaussible, sick rantings? I think not. This is not "Alice in Wonderland". And even THAT makes sense, after all it was all a dream...
