Anybody else here who likes Cathedral (Coventry/UK)?

Actually I heard of them for the first time around 1992 when they were doom metal orientated, then forgot them for years - but now revisited some of their stuff and I must say I really like them. Liked them in 1992 already, but their later more uptempo stuff has a lot to it, plenty of nodding to the 1970s.

Maybe anybody in here having seen them live?

The video to Midnight Mountain is... disturbing, partly quite funny... and very, very cool.

 
I actually really like them! First discovered them through Hopkins (Witchfinder General) music video and got hooked. The Ethereal Mirror is an awesome album. A small fun fact: vocalist Lee Dorian was earlier in the band Napalm Death.

BTW, why do you find the video for Midnight Mountain disturbing? Are hand claps not your thing? LOL!
 
Was aware of them from the Midnight Mountain video, and have a couple of albums. I'd be more of a "best of" sort of fan of these than a die hard

Mmhh, difficult to describe. Perhaps it's this "acid party vibe" along with the groovy 70's style while still metal. Perhaps the "disco" elements? More than that they are dressed like Hippies. Then... A slightly aggressive, grumpy singer in a white suit, dancing... :bigsmile: Plus the fact that the singer always turns to the viewer. Like he definitely has to say something. Great stuff.
 
Big fan, here. Used to talk a lot with Lee Dorrian and Brian Dixon, online. They're the only band that carried on the adventurous spirit of 70's Sabbath. Hope they reform at some point. Garry Jennings is an underrated riffmaster and they're very cool people. Saw them live, in São Paulo (June 24th, 2011), Garry gave me and a friend a plectrum each, talke to him during the show and we had a bit of a laugh, Lee Dorrian gave me mic to scream 'Utopian Blaster', on the gig and beat his chest in acknowledging the dedication and I told Brian he's one of my fave drummers and he thanked me, went to the drum riser and gave me a drumstick. Love 'em!
