Bruce again tells it like it is! Hell yes!

thanks for the interview! Bruce is right. The only reason im not going to see rush is because the "cheap Seats" are 9O bucks! :wtf: I also think veteran bands like Rush dont need to charge that much.  Anyone see Tom Petty do the superbowl? What a bore! Imagine paying $200 to see that. I saw lt for free and wanted my money back! Hopefully with the state of the economy more bands will follow maiden.

We're lucky. Here in Minnesota, the BEST Rush seats are only $70!

The state of the economy isn't hurting bands like Maiden. Look at all the other super popular bands who have been around for a long time. They're charging those outrageous ticket prices and completely selling out their shows. Look at the sporting industry as well. Every NFL football game is a complete sellout no matter how well the team does. It's pathetic.

$200 is completely outrageous unless the show features a reunited The Beatles.

I wonder how much goes into the pockets of those who trade tickets or arrange the shows? Just to do some comparison:

On the SBIT tour, the Lerkendal show cost 550 NOK (approx 85 USD) and I think the one in Oslo cost the same. The same summer, Metallica played Koengen in Bergen (where Maiden will play in just three weeks, WEEEY!). The tickets cost 900 NOK (I didn't go there).

Now, this spring I saw Metallica in Oslo, and paid 600 NOK for the ticket. The tickets for the upcoming Maiden show in Bergen cost me 800 ...

This means the arrangers in Bergen (BergenLive) charged 200 NOK more for Maiden and 300 more for Metallica than other venues in Norway in the same time period.

Yeah, I'm not going to see Rush, either. Let's see, what were the most recent concerts I went to:

Porcupine Tree/BigElf - $40
Yes/Peter Frampton - $0 (this was a festival concert, and was well worth it)
Iron Maiden/Dream Theater - $50

Rush - $50 for lawn seats, without the $40 transfer charge. Total - $90.

Yeah, it's not worth it. As much as I love Rush, I won't shell out nearly $100, just to hear the band and not even see them (barely.)

Even Coldplay last year - $47

It's a freakin' rip off that Rush are doing, and is the main reason why I've never seen U2. For a band that rants about the evils of money (U2), they sure like to rip off their fans.

Prices depend on venues.  Venues can get a large crowd for Rush; prices go up.

Hmmmm, the Minnesota State Fair grandstand holds 17,000. I wonder what all the amphitheaters they're playing at hold.

Also, I would think it would be the opposite. The smaller the venue, the higher the prices in order to make as much money as possible. I'm sure glad that's not the case!

Yes, but Red Rocks shows are often expensive, because it's Red Rocks, dammit.

Now does the Minnesota State Fair look like that? :P

I'm not sure how what the place looks like has to do with prices. Rush's prices are quite high for most venues, not just Red Rocks. I'm actually quite surprised that they're as low as they are for the MN. St. Fair. Maybe because it takes in so much money from everything else so they can afford to charge less for bands.

I bought my Rush tickets for only $45 . . . ?

And F*** YEAH BRUCE! It's seventy bucks to see Roger Waters. I'd only pay that money if ALL of Pink Floyd was there.

another show im not going to because of the prices. 75 bucks is for 3/4 of PF and we're only getting 1/4. Tickets should be 25 :P

i thought about going but im gonna see the Scorpions about a week before. (same day as the new maiden album hell yeah!) I decided there will be more rush concerts and this will be my last chance to see the scorps.
