Quite possibly the most overrated album in music history? Had it been released in the 80's most people would count it as Maiden's worst album of that decade, but Bruce's return for this one has blown its reputation way out of proportions.
 
I must say that this album was the only one which really went down on a list and it was on spot no.6, only thing that's truly beautiful is atmosphere and light hearted fresh feel, but AMOLAD went high ij contrast!
 
I read an interview with Adrian where he said some of the songs on BNW were leftovers from VXI. I can't say for sure, but I have the feeling Maiden kinda rushed this album, in the excitement of Adrian & Bruce's return. I think it's a good album, and out of the 6-man-Maiden albums I'd probably rate it my third favourite after AMOLAD & FF, but I think it might have been better if they'd left off a couple of the weaker tracks (I'm thinking The Mercenary and Dream of Mirrors - which I understand were two of the VXI cast-offs) and got Adrian and/or Bruce to contribute a couple more tracks. As the last fifteen years have shown, Adrian has pretty much turned into Maiden's strongest and most prolific writer of music, and he only contributed to two tracks on BNW.
