Mirror Mirror - although that was tactical voting to get ATTWS through to the final.

Surprised Time Stands Still has come this far and done this well. It wouldn't even be in my top 20 probably.

After much thought, it's time for ATTWS to go. I have to say that Time Stands Still has always felt more exciting to me.

And Then There Was Silence.  Time Stands Still isn't near Blind Guardian's best song (possibly top 10 though), but it's still better than Silence.

Time Stands Still.

I find Time Stands Still captures the typical Blind Guardian feeling well, but I think that they've made many better songs than it, on Nightfall in Middle Earth alone, I find 5 songs (Mirror, Mirror, When Sorrow Sang, Nightfall, Into The Storm and A Dark Passage) superior.

On the other hand And Then There Was Silence is one of the greatest metal songs ever. The 5 minutes from about 7:45-12:45 are pretty much perfect. The chorus is catchy, Hansi gives one of his greatest vocal performance (and I find the layering adds to the epic feel rather than ruining the song), the song is a great example of managing to create and merge different moods together flawlessly. Again, it captures the typical BG sound but on a much grander scale. Clearly the winner for me in this survivor.

This one was fun, as it got me to pay a bit more attention to BG. I had always favored Tales From The Twilight World as my favorite album, but now I have to say Somewhere Far Beyond and Nightfall are up there too.
