Although I like Paul-fronted Maiden more than Blaze-fronted, I prefer Blaze.

Mainly because he has a successful solo carrier, and doesn't say shit about Maiden...

I like Paul's Maiden album better than Blaze's, I think.

Blaze's solo albums are great, but for some reason I like Blaze 75% of the time, the other times his voice seems annoying. I go with Paul, even though he's a dick.

Blaze, definitely.  His voice doesn't annoy me, he has done some great albums during his solo career, and is a superb frontman as well (solo, dunno with Maiden).

Di'anno by a long shot. The first two albums stand head and shoulders above the material that was done with Bayley. I'm not knocking Blaze, but c'mon... this is no contest...

Blaze. Paul was good, got the job done, but Blaze is the man.

While there's some great stuff on the first 2 albums, it isn't Paul that makes it great. It's Steve and Dave with a bit of Clive.

But can you imagine The X Factor sung by Bruce? Blaze was perfect for that record.

I can't decide. I like Blaze's voice but I like the first two maiden albums more than X Factor and Virtual XI. (Killers is my favorite maiden album) So I'm gonna call it a tie.

This is what I feel. Blaze's vocals fit The X Factor perfectly. However, I feel Virtual XI would have gone a lot further with Bruce.

I feel Virtual XI would have gone a lot further with better drumming and better production. Blaze sounds fantastic on those tracks; as noted previously, I think there are several post-reunion tracks that Steve wrote for the fellow. Blood Brothers & WTWWB comes immediately to mind.

Nah, on album I feel that The Clansman and Como Estais Amigos (my two favourites from VXI) fit Blaze very well. The same goes for at least parts of the rest of the songs as well (a couple of them are boring and would be so with Bruce as well - a chorus sung 22 times gets tiring no matter who is singing).

Live, most Maiden songs get an extra dimension with Bruce, but that's down to his ability as a frontman on a big stage, not so much because he sounds so much better on songs like The Clansman.

When it comes to Blaze vs Paul, I go with Blaze. He has made more memorable solo stuff, and he doesn't seem to be an arsehole. As Maiden singers, I think both were good for their respective albums. But had they both come to my city on the same day and I could only see one, I'd definitely choose Blaze.

I agree.

And Blaze does have the right voice for the X-factor dark atmosphere.

Yup.

Bruce could sing them equally good, perhaps better than Paul...

The question was and still is: who do I like better as a vocalist?

I'll go for Paul. Even though his pronunciation is not that easy to hear well, Blaze sang more often off key, live, and there are a few moments on studio material when his voice plainly annoys me.
Di'Anno didn't have such moments, and that matters most to me.

That's actually up to you. The opening post just asks which one you like better. "Which vocalist do you like better" and "Who do you like better as a vocalist" are not identical questions.

Nevertheless, I agree on parts of what you say. Blaze does sound off-key on a fair share of live recordings, and if their performance of Maiden songs live (when they were in the band) was the only criterion, I'd also go with Paul.

I've gotta disagree. I think Di'anno's contribution to the first two albums was integral, both in his songwriting and vocal performances. When I hear Bruce cover certain Di'anno era tunes, I actually cringe. I think Paul contributed greatly to the band's image at the time... more street level than what they became with Bruce behind the mic. It was that sound and image that originally made me a fan in the early 80's, and Di'anno was a big part of that for me...

True, I do like Blazes vocal styles on these songs, but I can't help what but wonder what some other songs would have sounded like with Bruce. For example, although The Thin Line was written for Virtual XI (I believe?), I couldn't imagine Blaze delivering that song as beautifully as Bruce did.

OK, as a person I like Blaze better.

The question contained the words "Maiden vocalist". Blaze made his solo stuff when he was an ex-Maiden vocalist.

NOTE: my earlier post is about these vocalists in Maiden. If outside was allowed, I'd also pick Blaze, because he's really grown, and he already did some really excellent stuff on the first Blaze album.
