Ancient Mariner
Well it's time for Melodic Death Metal. It's a bit difficult to pick a consensus on the 4 biggest bands (some say it's the Gothenburg three plus Carcass while others claim to be Amorphis, Children Of Bodom, Amon Amrarth and Arch Enemy). So this time everyone's on!

1990 to 1994:
Amorphis - Tales From The Thousand Lakes
At The Gates - Terminal Spirit Disease
Carcass - Heartwork
Desultory - Bitterness
Edge Of Sanity - Until Eternity Ends
Hipocrisy - The Fourth Dimension
In Flames - Subterranean
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
Tiamat - The Astral Sleep
Tiamat - Clouds

1995 to 1999
At The Gates - Slaughter Of The Soul
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I
Dissection - Storm Of The Lights Bane
Edge Of Sanity - Crimson
In Flames - The Jester Race
In Flames - Whoracle
Opeth - Morningrise
Opeth - Still Life
Sentenced - Amok

2000 to 2004
Arch Enemy - Anthems Of Rebellion
Children Of Bodom - Follow The Reaper
Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done
Dark Tranquillity - Exposures
In Flames - Clayman
In Flames - Reroute To Remain
In Flames - Soundtrack To Your Escape
Night In Gales - Nailwork
Night In Gales - Necrodynamic
Opeth - Blackwater Park

2005 to 2009
Arch Enemy - The Root Of All Evil
Dark Tranquillity - Character
Dark Tranquillity - We Are The Void
Dark Tranquillity - Yesterworld
In Flames - Come Clarity
In Flames - A Sense Of Purpose
In Flames - The Mirror's Truth
Requiem Laus - The Eternal Plague
Scepticflesh - Communion
Theriomorphic - The Beast Brigade

2010 to today
At The Gates - At War With Reality
Arsames - Immortal Identity
Carcass - Surgical Steel
Carcass - Surgical Remission/ Surplus Steel
Carcass - Despicable
Crescent - Pyramid Slaves
Echidna - Dawn Of The Sociopath
Requiem Laus - As Long As Darkness Bleeds
Requiem Laus - A Higher Claim

Damn... so much good stuff left out in the first decade and then I could only find litle more records I like (while fitting the genre).

P.S. : Today I remembered of two excellent bands from my country (Requeim Laus and Theriomorphic) as well as Arsames from Iran... mn do we tend to forget things that are closer to us! Check these guys for they are truly great. Well... 40 albums for a 31 year span. Could be better but overall not bad.
