Best New Music 2024 edition

The first single from the new End Machine album, The Quantum Phase, coming out on March 8th, which features George Lynch and Jeff Pilson from Dokken, “Mild” Steve Brown (brother of the now-retired “Wild” Mick Brown from Dokken), and new singer Girish Pradhan from Girish And The Chronicles.

Girish sounds great and the song kicks ass! Can’t wait for the whole album.

  • GRANDMASTER - Black Sun (Metal)
  • SAXON - Hell, Fire and Damnation (Metal)
  • THE RODS - Rattle the Cage (Hard Rock / Metal)

My new music of the year so far consists of....

Sgàile - Traverse The Bealach [atmospheric folk metal]
Really grandiose, folk metal style songwriting with questionably clean vocals. I wish the vocals were better, but the music is great.

Madder Mortem - Old Eyes, New Heart [gothic prog/rock, alt-metal]
Soul-crushingly great vocals, but not all the songs wow me. I actually prefer the quieter tunes to the heavy ones. Apparently they've been around awhile, so I'll need to check out their older stuff.

William Elliott Whitmore - Silently, The Mind Breaks [folk]
Sadly, a let down. I used to love this one-man banjo/guitar ex-punk's music, but somewhere along the way he stopped being angry and started just writing songs about farms and living as a content middle-aged dude. It just doesn't hit the way it used to. Still a great guy, though.
