Bassists. Of course.

And I'll vote off any and every bassist who uses a pick. GO PLAY A GUITAR ALREADY YA POSER.

Had a swap around with a friend who plays bass earlier .. well, he occasionally picks up his bass and/or guitar, like once a month.. used to put more effort in but since he moved away he's very rarely touched it.

So I played bass and he played guitar, I used a pick because it's what is comfortable to me after playing guitar. We ran through CIPWM, TTAL, FOTD, HBTN, Losfer Words, and I came to a few conclusions:

1) Using a pick on a bass really hurts your wrist cos those strings are so flipping far apart the movement is much pronounced more than on a guitar. So if basses had strings closer together pick would be ideal. I'm not used to using my fingers to do things like that so this would be far easier for me (as a guitar player)

2) Bass strings are so far apart because if they werent you'd constantly catch them with your flailing fingers on faster stuff. To me it makes it seem like Chicken or the Egg ;D (Naturally I know its not, because the bass evolved from a double bass so its nothing to do with that).

3) Playing on a bass for a while would do a lot for my finger strength in my fretting hand and thus help my guitar a bit.

4) I'm better at bass than him, Sure I'm using a pick whereas he uses his fingers... but as a result I am faster, more accurate, and able to play more complex lines.

5) He really needs to lower the action on his bass... (especially after watchinng something like John Myungs video and seeing how little he has to touch the strings to press them :P)
