Benjamin Breeg painting... in the video !

Well, first of all I have to congratulate every person who is responsible of this board ; it's simply great ; and Maverick for his commentary which answered to MANY of my questions.
Now more seriously, I was actually watching the Benjamin Breeg video until I saw something very familiar to me ; this which comes from www.BenjaminBreeg.co.uk :

You can actually find the same painting in the Video ; just stop it on 5:14.

Now you're probably asking yourself what is it all about ? Or why am I starting a new topic for this specific painting ?
To clear up the things, you can find this painting on "The Benjamin Breeg website". The author of the website said yesterday that he had finally been able to see one of his cousin's art pieces (he  travelled just to see the painting)... yesterday... and the video is at least two weeks old... and the drawing reminds me of a guy called Eddie (look at the nose).
Something is a bit strange... don't you think so ?
On one hand, A. Breeg has been trying for years (i guess so) to find a piece of work of his cousin, and yesterday he was finally able to. On the other hand, Maiden inserted a picture B.Breeg's work in their last music video... how can they possess a copy of Mr Breeg's work before his cousin ? And why does it look like Eddie ?

Now all these remarks and questions oblige me to ask myself other questions : Is this fake ? Is it a pure fabrication for marketing purposes ?

Frankly I think it is... First the website was created a couple of days before the release of the single ; Second, on the single's cover, look closely at the tombstone and you can see this "?? - 1978" written on it. Supposing that Breeg existed, he didnt die in 1978, and the only information about him comes from www.BenjaminBreeg.co.uk where it clearly says that he was born in 1939.
So did Maiden already have personal informations about Breeg ? And if they consulted this website why didnt they mention his date of birth (and logically it must be 1939 - ?? because he dissapeared, right ?) ? Or is it just a fabrication for advertisement ?

It's simply weird...

I only want to add something ; If it's fake... is it honnest from "the boys" to do that ? It's not really honesty, but why would they go for pure advertisement ?
 
Well, everyone is wondering who is this Mr. Benjamin Breeg and the band is quite 'hush hush' about it. It must be some persuasive advertising gimmick to have everyone wondering and piecing the puzzle together. It's a great strategy actually.

Yes, it's all marketing. But still they must have plans to actually reveal what's behind all this... I hope ;)

So I guess if they say that it's Benjamin Breeg's work, then probably the whole thing isnt fake... but still why did Maiden possess the art work before his cousin did ?
Or probably they are claiming that it's B.B's work just to tell us that this bloke is an imagenary person.. one of their imagination.
Well, they are hiding something... so i agree with you, we only have to wait until they reveal its secrets !

P.S: How did this guy get a copy of the single ?  :huh:
 
It's all too coincidental and a marketing campaign - I reckon. Google searches were done for "Benjamin Breeg" the second it was announced as a track. I don't think anyone had any joy. Yet weeks after, loads turn up, including the benjaminbreeg.co.uk site.

I saw that painting yesterday and posted this. It started when I saw an Benjy t-shirt on the maiden site - the wording on the back print were, as I recalled, from the Benjy site. So I went back there to confirm and saw the painting.
 
Welcome to the board SpitfireXI, that was a great introduction post.

As for the speculation, I believe the entire debacle is a merketing stunt.  I believe that Sanctuary/Maiden are behind the site www.benjaminbreeg.co.uk.  They are planting these little bits and pieces of information just to get the fans on the messageboards fired up.  It has worked!

For all I know, SpitfireXI may be Nicko McBrain, just spreading some more rumors and speculation about the album :P  Maiden are very smart by using the internet as a tool in their promotion of the album.  Premiering tracks, spreading rumors etc.  Well done IM :)

"New shirts - Benjamin Breeg and Commander Eddie - available now! " (How do you quote ?)
Commander Eddie is the guy of the album cover, while B.B must be the guy on the single cover... and on the single cover the guy is Eddie !
And on the tombstone it's written 1978. So Mr Breeg died in 1978 and reincarnated... Eddie is a zombie, and exists since 1978. And as for the drawing, considering that Breeg is Eddie (Eddie The Head Breeg ?), then it must be an autoportrait.
So maybe at the end we might get something similar to a hidden person behing that mysterious name... and it might be Eddie. But all we have to do is just wait for something from The Boys.

PS: I can and cannot be Nicko... very mysterious, right ? (Marketing a la Maiden)

On the Breeg-HP you can read that "He only paints what he sees". So if this painting is made by Benjamin, Eddie must either be something has has seen or he has seen his own reincarnation in his dreams.  ;)

I'm not so sure we will know at the shows - as the reveal will only be good for two, maybe three, shows tops. Once it is shown in one concert, almost every Maiden fan worldwide will be aware of what's behind it by the next day or two. Nice idea though.

Me and my sister were just debating over Benjamin Breeg.

They made it up, if you ask me :)
 
Take a look at the lyrics. Benjamin was cursed and when he died, 1978 he was reincarnated as a horrible creature called Eddie. And now he want salvation.
