Average song length of each studio album.

Interesting to see, though Powerslave and TBoS are slightly skewed by having one song that's significantly longer than the rest. Ancient Mariner is around double the length of its parent album's next longest track, then Empire of the Clouds is five minutes longer than The Red and the Black and eight minutes longer than the title track. I don't think the result would be much different for Powerslave as every track is around 4 - 6 minutes, but I'd be curious to see what TBoS would be without Empire, as I think that's one of the better-balanced reunion albums.

Agreed. But the dominant longer material that is not balanced enough started in 2006, although I have no problem with AMOLAD. Which could be said even for the Blaze albums. And a different sequence, I guess. BNW and DOD are probably the standard from the Reunion era.
Probably one reason why I really like Dance of Death from the reunion era, it has a healthy balance of song lengths - epics interspersing songs, rather than everything stretched to breaking point
As I said before, the last few albums (the last three) need 2 more shorter songs for a good balance.
Different cover art and I’m absolutely convinced that album would be lauded more generally
I really like the album, but I doubt it.

It's pretty interesting, but not surprising, how SIT is longer on average than Powerslave, despite the latter featuring Rime.
All the solo Harris tracks on SIT are pretty long. Even Adrian's songs, that are arguably more mainstream friendly (or at least Wasted Years is) are all at least 5 minutes long.

I think the shortness of SSOASS is the real outlier in there. You've got one of the bands longest ever songs skewing the average, but the run time of 40 odd minutes was significantly shorter than previous albums, despite the concept seeming like it would have had the opposite effect on song lengths

100% agree. It’s my favourite reunion album for this very reason.
Everything on it, except Age of Innocence, has aged really well. Tracks like New Frontier still leap out of the speakers and remind me of how young the band was, relatively speaking, back then.

The cover art was a double loss since the band photos inside are some of the most striking (and SEXIEST!! ;) they ever had in an album. Even if they used the same photography tactic as ASAP’s Silver and Gold sleeve, it’s still great.

Fix the front cover art, make Rainmaker the lead single, and I really think DoD would have been lauded as a standout and classy Maiden album.
