Is Maiden traped by thier Gallopliong sound? If not, could they make thier next studio album/cd/mp3 galloping free. Don't get me wrong I love it. I just find that certain bands get tired of their trademark sound.
Really? Did you listen to AMOLAD? How many of the songs had a real "gallop" on it, and I mean, go back and listen to the Trooper and Aces High and Run to the Hills then listen to AMOLAD.
LC's right. As much as they are "known" for galloping drum beats in a lot of their more popular songs, many more have no trace of it at all. The ones that do just seem to get a lot of play..... similar to the Judas Priest "signature" guitar riffs.
I have listen to AMOLAD. Just not in awhile. I am still a Novice to IM. I just find that the Galloping sound is thier Trademark. Every band has one. Priest has a Grinding feel to thier sound. Sabbath have a Sludgy sound. When ever my friends and I talk about Maiden. The Galloping sound is usually a point in the conversation. As one friend said. "it ain't Maiden without the Galloping. The Galloping in my mind is a Maiden trademark sound. Any new band that gallapos in the guitar/base/drum line, sound, is doing the Maiden.
Oh yeah, you are certainly right about that Mysterio, I guess a better answer to the question would be that they are not trapped by their galloping sound although many casual listeners have come to expect it from them.
No they are not trapped by the gallop - but their more well known tracks to non-Maiden fans just so happen to have the gallop. So maybe it's other people that seem to think they are when they have only had one or two galloping songs snuck in to their last five albums or so (Out of the Silent Planet and Ghost of Navigator is all that immediately springs to mind). I can't think of any in the last two releases.
And you forgot: Fortunes of War, Sign of the Cross, When Two Worlds Collide, Dance of Death, and the Longest Day. There may be more, but those are the only ones I thought of instantly.
Also, this is a little random, but due to the amount of gallops in their music, I find it hard to listen to a gallopping song by other bands because it always reminds me of Iron Maiden (not that that's a bad thing, but Maiden just does it better than other bands).
