Any chance they'll return to US in 2011 for the actual album tour?

Bring it on

I'm down with he insanity too, even if it meant a dent in the old wallet.   :)

Just as a comparison, Justin Bieber tickets for good seats at Radio City are going for $1500-$1900.   Maiden fans are just as nuts as mom's who will do anything to buy their daughters tickets to see pop acts.

The bottom line though is, it will never happen.  It doesn't make sense for Maiden to do financially, unless they ask for ridiculous ticket prices, or played 7 consecutive nights there like in 1985.  Neither one will happen though, it doesn't fit with their established business model.

I think if it was about the money they would do nothing but nostalgia tours in the states. Maybe not the Final Frontier tour but before Maiden call it a career i would think they will revisit their roots and do small venues.

No, that's not nearly as lucrative.  You have to factor in all sorts of things.  When you play 18,000+ venues you are getting massive merchandise sales, plus a percentage of the food and beverages.   A band can't even come close to that type of profit playing smaller venues, regardless of how many shows they play.  Not to mention the money Maiden commands just to play at a large venue is significantly more than that of a smaller venue.

None of this means Maiden is about the money, I think we all know they aren't, but they are certainly a business and Rod Smallwood has had no qualms in admitting that.

It's a nice thought, but it's purely sentimental, they may play a few intimate farewell shows, but it won't be a full tour's worth of smaller venues.

Yeah i was speaking of a few, not a whole tour.

Oh, well then lets keep our fingers crossed that one of those is at Radio City.   :edmetal:

The thing is, whatever they are going to do has probably already been planned.  I know they have been wishy washy about is this or isn't this the last album, but I don't buy that for a second, they know whether it is or isn't.  Bruce has said when he and Adrian rejoined in 1999, Rod had already mapped out and planned the next 10 years up through doing the Somewhere Back In Time tour (though he didn't know there would be an Ed Force One piloted by Bruce).  That makes me think that they have at least the next 5 years planned as well now, which is the way Rod has run things since 1980.  The guy is an absolute genius, hopefully he feels the same way you do about some smaller venues.

Damn! lets dream big and hope they re-open L' Amour in Brooklyn and play under Charlotte and the Harlots like they did back in the 80's

holy shit! I can't believe I'm seeing Maiden... at Lamour!! That's friggin' great!
I've been to that place a few times. It was cool, too bad it's closed down. I think they re-opened it though... but it's like, in Staten Island I think...

Lol.  I think we can both agree that will never happen again.  Were you there?

Man, what an amazing band Warrior Soul was.   I never got to see any of the small one off Maiden shows.  I did see Bruce and Adrian on the Accident Of Birth tour play a small bar called Sir Morgan's Cove in Worcester, Mass with about 125 people.

I agree. Warrior Soul was great. Never got to see Bruce solo. Must have been awesome!

The funny thing was I also saw Bruce the night before that at the Strand in Rhode Island and there were about 1500 people.  What made it even funnier was, at the show in Worcester Geezer Butler's band was opening and his singer was from Worcester, so most of the audience was there because they were friends or family, a bunch of them left before Bruce even went on.

I also saw Bruce acoustic at the Hard Rock cafe on the promo tour for Balls To Picasso.  That was a blast.

Is L'amour closed? I saw King Diamond there in 2003. Of course the show started at Midnight. It was way the f*%k out in Brooklyn. And not the hipster part of Brooklyn either.
