Alexander The Great some day!

This is quite an interesting discussion here.
I believe Alexander the Great will be performed one day, with Janick playing the solo at 4:04
Perhaps on the farewell tour and there will be another history tour. Since there aren't many epics from NPftD and FotD could AtG have a possibility at being played then?

Honestly, I think the liklihood of ATG could go either way at this point.

Maiden have, in my opinion, started becoming a bit lazy in their song selection. In addition, we know that whatever their last tour is, the setlist will probably have to include a lot of tunes like 2M, RTTH, Trooper, NOTB, Hallowed, etc. etc. However, the 2010 setlist, and the inclusion of
Afraid To Shoot Strangers
in 2012/13 are signs that, although weakened, Steve/Maiden's do-whatever-we-want-because-we're-Iron-fucking-Maiden attitude is still there somewhere. Hopefully, for a big, stops-out farewell tour, they could find room for one "deep cut" surprise. I think that, if they do, Alexander The Great may have a fighting chance.

Although I would love to hear ATG live, I don't think it will ever happen.

Yep. In my mind, the more material they write and tour, the less likely they are to play it live, unless for some reason it fits a future setlist perfectly.

True, but I think that if they do decide to throw us an unplayed song on a future tour, it'll likely be ATG, for the fact that they've rehearsed it and Nicko wants to play it so badly. But the liklihood of Maiden playing something live for the first time (aside from new songs) is, I agree, minimal.

Perhaps their next album shall be based on ancient warrior legends, and it will fit the tour (or a more lyrically appealing version shall emerge, nah).

Oliver Stone could have picked it as the theme tune to Alexander. Although the lyrics would have given the entire plot away, so maybe not.

Kind of off topic, but I also seem to remember Nicko saying they'd rehearsed Prodigal Son for the Early Days tour and decided against it. If true, they've certainly come close to debuting non-live tunes years after release more than once.

For a farwell tour, I don't see something like this as too far-fetched:

1. Where Eagles Dare
2. Two Minutes To Midnight
3. Wrathchild
4. Revelations
5. Futureal
6. The Clansman
7. Wasted Years
9. The Trooper
10. Blood Brothers
11. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
12. The Number Of The Beast
13. Fear of the Dark
14. Iron Maiden
--------------------------
15. Alexander The Great
16. Hallowed Be Thy Name
17. Run To The Hills

Fuck! Why does Adrian have to be a perfectionist!? If you screw up about 10 seconds of your solo so what! I am sure 99.99% of the audience won't notice! Play Alexander the great goddammit! For this reason alone Adrian show not win who's your favourite Maiden guitarist poll!

Because Adrian is Adrian and if he wasn't perfectionist then he wouldn't be Adrian. :D Furthermore, I'm sure Adrian wouldn't appreciate that you said that...

It does suck that they won't play it live or its highly unlikely that they will but don't go beating up Adrian about it.

Probably not even his decision.

Also H is not just some "God amongst men in the music industry". >.>
