It's time to find out what's the ultimate, greatest, most amazing, fantastic album cover artwork here on maidenfans forum.
Because everybody has a different taste this could be quite interesting. :)

The rules of the game are easy:

- Send me a list with 10 of your favourite album covers in a DM before august 31. You don't need to rank them in the right order.
- There are no limits in the type of album (studio, live, EP or compilation) or music genre but no Iron Maiden!
- If you don´t like the artist or music but you simply love the artwork:
Don´t hesitate to nominate.

Hopefully I will have enough nominations to start the game in september. The first part of the game will be a few rounds with themed ladders. The finals (From last 32 to the big finale) will be obviously knock-outs.

It was about time for such a game. :) Why only 5 though? There are so many amazing album arts. I have to think about this for a long time.

I would love to participate in a Maiden one.
 
@MindRuler , do covers which are actually paintings which existed long before bands that used them qualify? e.g. Theodor Kittelsen's paintings used by Burzum and other Norwegian BM bands, etc.?

I love it! Not sure if you mean this specific one but I might even vote for it. :lol:
So yeah...If memory serves me well Deep Purple used a Hieronymus Bosch painting once, Bruce stuff from Blake and Armored Saint some surrealistic one too.

Update: So far I received 6 lists. Together with mine that's 69 great album covers so far!
Yes, one album cover appeared in 2 lists!
There's even a band, quite popular on this forum, with 5 nominated album covers and one with 4. Strange but true: some really famous covers aren´t nominated yet!
For those who didn´t send me a DM with 10 of their favourite album covers, you still have 3 weeks.
Nomination lists received after august 31 won´t be included in the competition.

The first round will be themed "ladders" where the covers that end up high go through to the next round. The winner of each ladder goes through to the finals. The other high placed covers play knock-outs where the remaining ones are seeded into the finals.
More information about how to play in september but I´m sure it´s going to be fun!

Welcome to Maidenfans first Album Cover Art Cup (or ACAC if you like it short) 2025-2026!

In the previous weeks I received lists from your alltime favourite album covers. These 92 pieces of art were carefully put in 16 groups: 12 of 6 covers and 4 of 5.

To give the mods a little bit of rest, I decided not to make different polls (which would be merged into this thread) but ladders where each of us pick their favourites by giving them points. The more points an album cover gets, the higher on the ladder it will climb. The winner of each ladder goes directly to the final phase of the game, the bottom two are eliminated.(bottom one in group of 5 covers)

The rest of the "survivors" play the next ladder round and so on until we have 32 covers left in the end.

These will be mixed up, drawn and seeded in the 16th finals to make it more exciting. (Otherwise winners of the first round are too safe in the game)
They will play knock-outs in the final rounds until there's only one left.

Round 1: RULES
You pick your 3 favourite album covers from each group and give them points: 3 to your favourite, 2 to the second and 1 point to your third. If someone before you allready gave points to that cover you have to add up with the number on the left and rank everything in the right order.

Example: (with our beloved band that was excluded from this competion for obvious reasons)
Your favourite covers are: SSOASS, Senjutsu and Live After Death.

You put your points after the album title, then cut and paste them in the right order and very important: change the points on the left too!

The next player´s favourite covers are: Senjutsu, Edward The Great and The Final Frontier. The points are given and add to the total on the left.
Always keep your given points visible! The next player can remove them and change it.

In this round the winner goes through to the finals and the bottom 2 (or bottom 1 with ladder of 5) are eliminated.
