A Question

With all the compilation talk lately I was thinking about Ed Hunter. So from what I heard Ed Hunter was made up of songs voted by the fans. So how did that work? Did they have a poll made up of classics on the website. Or something for you to write 20 or so songs that you wanted on the album?

I always found that tracklist hard to believe as a genuine fan favorite. Don't recall it all offhand, but I know it starts with Iron Maiden. Sure it's their theme song, but I doubt it would make most fans top 20.

To answer your question, if I remember they had a poll after Bruce and Adrian had been announced as returning, in 1999, for fans to pick their favorite songs for the upcoming Ed Hunter album.  Seems so long ago thinking about it now.

My memory tells me it was by a vote on the official website, but I'm not sure about that.

There's a interview with Adrian and Bruce prior to 1999 Helsinki show, where Adrian comments that he was pretty much surprised when he saw that fans voted for Iron Maiden.

I recall it being a survey on the site back in early 1999.

I'm sure it was then tweaked and resulted in what they eventually released.
