A question about the upcoming Concord, CA show (Bay Area folks?)

Hi all,

I was very disappointed to see that Maiden will not be coming to the Boston area this year. But as luck would have it, I'm traveling to San Francisco on June 20th which happens to be the day of the Concord show at the Sleep Train Pavilion!

I would love to go, but am a little unsure regarding transportation. The site for the venue says that they run a shuttle bus after the show to the Concord BART station, which I can then take back to get to my hotel. But the last BART train leaves at 12:05... Does anybody know what time shows there usually get out? I don't want to get stranded somewhere I've never been before  :S

I went to a show at Sleep Train during the last tour.  It's out in the middle of nowhere.  I didn't take BART so I don't know how long it takes to get to the station.  You should be fine with a 12:05 train, the show is typically only about two hours, and the boys usually are on stage by 9:00 or 9:30.  But you'll probably need to haul ass out of there the moment you hear Monty Python.  I expect the train would be crowded with other concertgoers.  It might be worth checking the web for the setlist, which almost never changes, so you know the last song and can head out immediately once it's over.  A cab is an option, but cabs in the Bay Area are outrageously expensive.  You could also rent a car, but expect major traffic delays heading to the venue (coming back should be fine), as you'll be in commuter traffic at the end of a workday.

BART is a very reliable way to get back to Oakland or SF after the show. There is a shuttle (like a rental car shuttle at the airport) that takes you back to BART, it's only a few minutes. I successfully made the trip while still blasted on acid after an Allman Brother's show. It is very easy and don't worry about being stranded in the middle of nowhere and being murdered by crystal meth tweakers.

He probably wouldn't have worried about it, until you mentioned it. Now I bet you've got the poor fella paranoid. :P

I just had that song from the movie, "The Hangover" stuck in my head. "What do tigers dream of, when they dream their little tiger dreams..."
