ok, well I had the speech today....and the thing was- I completly forgot about it, so I decided to basically do a history of iron maiden type thing. Glossing over the none important details, and making things up where I felt lazy. At the end of the talk I played the video of Holy Smoke (thanks to 'freaky) and it had the class pissing themselves, although I got told to turn the video off, just before the solo (I dont think the teacher liked the word shit used). Overall, it went well- so thanks any of you that helped, and even those that criticised me for asking for it....

Good stuff. Pity about having to do it ad lib. For our last speech in English, I reviewed the Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkein, which I think bored the hell outta the class-in retrospect, I should have reviewed Paschendale and Rime of the Ancient Mariner-it would have changed a few of my classes' perceptions, and since one guy reviewed Anchorman, it would have blown quite a few of the presentations out of the water, especially if I were to begin to frantically draw parallels between Maiden's works and poems we have studied. And since we did a coursework piece on War Poetry a short time ago, the recital of 'Anthem For Doomed Youth' at the beginning of Paschendale would have scored me marks.
But, knowing me and Maiden, the talk would have been over half an hour long. Because I would just HAVE to play both those songs in full...for full effect, of course. Not just to have teh most 3pic talk evahh!!!111 ::
Actually, perun, we recently got projectors installed in most of our classrooms, which is becoming an increasingly popular trend in today's technology driven education system-it's ridiculously simple to use the school computers to enhance a presentation now (or, it would be, if the C2k system wasn't absolute turd...)

2- What did you say during your speech- Not much really, its basically a super condenced version of Run to The Hills. I started with steve leaving gypsys kiss to form a band where he could express his musical imagination, and a quick run down of the first few albums, mentioning when certain band members left and what they went on to do. I then went on to talk about the stereotypical view of the band (blood sucking goths)....so I showed the holy smoke video to prove the statement wrong...

Was the assignment to write a report on your favorite band- Not exactly, it was a speeking and listning talk on something that you know a lot about/ are interested in. So I decided, I know more about Iron Maiden than most other things, so I decided to do them. And ever since I did my speech, most of the class has changed their ideas to 'your faverouite band, and why?'
And thats about it...its not that interesting really- just another piece of homework many of us maidenfans in school have come here to ask for help with....If you have any more questions, ask...but I dont think you do....
