Rearrange the letters, and you get "An ride I'm on" ('a ride I'm on' in a Cockney accent)
This leads me to believe that to the band members, Iron Maiden is a ride, or a journey. They change their direction sometimes, and nobody is quite sure of their destination, but it's not the destination which really matters. It's the journey.
In other words, the true purpose of Iron Maiden's music is explore yourself and your society using the music as the medium of travel.
