More interesting is the case of the forum members that didn't like the last Maiden LP and who lack the guts to say what they think about. Do you think they dread 'true' fans' reaction?  :smartarse:

If that's the case, then I'd hate to see how they'd react to a real problem. :D Then again, I'm probably just saying this because I haven't bought the new Maiden album. :nana:

Man I don't check for a day and all hell breaks loose...

Since I have been implicated in this complicated plot I will defend my honor!

I was talking with Duke and I mentioned that I bought AMOLAD the previous night and that my official opinion of it was "Meh". Not that I didn't like it, in fact that was rather odd. I found the album to be their most solid probably ever, with not a single "weak" or "crappy" song, all of them from "good" to "great", but I just wasn't feeling it. After maybe 10 or 12 listens however it "hit" me and I started enjoying it. The only complaint I still have is that, even though the album is great from start to finish it lacks a "Hallowed" or "Wickerman" type song that blows you away on the first listen and you just love it the rest of your life. ALL the songs on this album are THICK and they take time to sink in, which in the long run might be more enjoyable.

From a personal point of view, this is exactly what "Brighter than a 1000 Suns" is. Loved it on first listen (even though it was streamed) and for me it will go down as one of their best.

I got To the Depths... In Degradation and Deathcult for Eternity: The Triumph in the mail yesterday. I think they'll keep my busy for quite a while and no amount of l33t speak can change that. -_- Besides, I'm tired of traditional/power metal these days.

Man, you stole the words right out of my mouth.  The album felt different than normal.  Mostly because of Bruce's vocals, which are good, but he does more things with the vocals than in previous albums.  They are not screaming or high pitched.  So that is partially the reason it takes to get used to the songs.

It was different for me.  For the Greater Good of God and The Longest Day have always been on the top of the album for me.  Their effect was immediate.  I would wager that most people would put Brighter Than a Thousand Suns in that group too, but for me, personally, I am just starting  to think of this song as top notch.  It is a bit heavy, in the sense that it takes a few listens to comprehend and appreciate.
